Georgia Tech vs. Georgia Football Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 26, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Saturday the No.13 ranked Georgia Bulldogs will likely have their hands full when in-state rival Georgia Tech comes to town, as the Yellow Jackets improved to 8-3 on the season after their very impressive 41-23 win over Miami last week, and could have a shot at playing for the ACC Championship. As for the Bulldogs they are now 9-2, after sneaking past Auburn 17-13 a couple weeks ago on the road. Now the Bulldogs have had some time to prepare for this one, but these two teams know each other pretty well, and its either teams game to win. If you are looking to do some college football betting on this one, the oddsmakers have Georgia 8 point favorites at home over the Yellow Jackets at BetUS.com
Now the Yellow Jackets have been trading wins and losses over the last 5 weeks, so they have to break that trend this weekend if they want to pull off the upset. Now against the Hurricanes the Yellow Jackets just simply ran the football down the Hurricanes throats, as they had over 500 yards of total offense with just 46 coming through the air. The Yellow Jackets had 4 players run for at least 75 yards, and Jonathan Dwyer led the way with a 128 yards on just 10 carries, including 2 that went for touchdowns. Now what made this so impressive was the Hurricanes had actually been playing some pretty solid defense this season, but were just completely man handled off the line of scrimmage. Now if the Yellow Jackets come anywhere near that 472 yards they put up last week on the ground against Georgia, you have to like this teams chances of pulling off the big win on the road.
Now kids just find that extra gear when it comes to playing your in-state rival, as it gives one team bragging rights for a year, and with both these teams looking like they will be playing in quality bowl games this season, it makes it even that much more intense. Now just as good as the Yellow Jackets were at running the ball, they were nearly just as good on the defensive side of things, as they were up 41-10 before the Hurricanes even remotely started to move the football. Holding the Bulldogs down on their home field will be no easy task, but if they can just keep it close their offense could easily win this game for them. Bet Georgia Tech +8 at BetUS.com
Speaking of the Bulldogs, they have rolled off two solid wins on the road, after getting their butts kicked by Florida, and wound up finishing 3rd overall in the SEC at 6-2 just a game behind the Gators in the East division. In their last game against Auburn Knowshon Moreno was a force on the ground and catching the football, as the star running back had 131 yards on the ground, and 58 through the air, including a 35 yard pass and run from Matt Stafford. Now Stafford was responsible for both of the Bulldogs two scores, as he had 215 yards passing with two touchdown strikes. This week you have to think the Bulldogs have the upper hand, in the case that if they can’t run the ball they have one heck of a quarterback to turn to, while Georgia Tech’s passing game isn’t much to speak of.
The Bulldogs defense will then be responsible for shutting down that strong Yellow Jacket rushing attack, and it won’t be an easy task, as they let the Tigers run for 124 yards last week. But the key to that was they really made Auburn work for those yards, as they carried it 36 times for just 3.4 average per rush. If the Bulldogs stop the run this one will likely be all Georgia, but if they struggle look for the Yellow Jackets to ware this defense down and it will be a dog fight all the way to the finish.
