Giants vs Brewers Odds & Picks

Written June 26, 2009 by Jordan Haimowitz

giants-brewers-preview-062609The Giants are 39-32 on the season and the answer to your question is, yes, I have no idea how this team is seven games over .500. Bengie Molina has 10 homers and 41 RBIs while Pablo Sandoval leads the team in hitting with a .335 batting average along with eight homers and 35 RBIs. Aaron Rowand has been solid contributing eight home runs and 33 RBIs while hitting an even .300. After that, the rest of these jokers couldn’t hit a beach ball off a little league tee. The starter however is a man who has tormented hitters all season long. Matt Cain is the man on the mound for San Fran tonight bringing his 9-1 record along with the 2.28 ERA ha fields with him. In his one start against the Brewers this season he went seven innings of one run ball allowing only four hits. Cain picked up the victory in that game. So, now I will explain to everybody why he will have his worst start of the season to date. Last year he struggled against the Brew Crew giving up seven hits, three runs and five walks in six innings and got the loss. Milwaukee hit .292 off him in that game. His June numbers were also the worst of any month in 2008. Tonight he will have a minor slip up against a power right handed lineup. Cain has always been more effective against Lefties. No x-factor here as I don’t give them a chance tonight.  Friday’s MLB odds show the Brewers -145 against the Giants with the total set at 7 runs.

The Brew Crew are 38-33 on the season and are in a bit of a slump. They have lost four of their last five games. With the Cardinals dropping three of four in New York, the Brewers remain only one game out of first and will play their next six games at home. Prince Fielder has continued his early season MVP performance with 18 homers, 68 RBIs and a .301 batting average. Ryan Braun has also been a stud with 16 homers, 51 RBIs while hitting .318 from the dish. Mike Cameron has played a gold glove caliber center field while also showing pop with 12 homers and 33 RBIs. Young rookie Casey McGehee has been phenomenal since being called up as well. Corey Hart and JJ hardy have been disappointing but are talented enough to have a big night at any given time. On the mound to counter Mr. Cain for the Giants is the Brewers ace of staff Yovani Gallardo who has a 7-4 record with a 3.00 ERA. As of late Yovani has been terrific. In his last six starts he has went at least five inning and has given up three runs or less in each of those starts. In his only start against the Giants this year he went 6.2 innings allowing six hits and only two runs while picking up the win. His home/road numbers are just about dead even. His ERA in June is 2.52. Look for the red hot Gallardo to silence the Giants tonight and do it in very impressive fashion. Two runs could very well get the job done.

Haimo’s Hot Notes: The Giants are 6-4 in their last 10 games overall. They are 9-0 in Cain’s last nine starts. Here is how much that impresses me, I am not only declaring this as a BEST BET, this is my up to date LOCK OF THE YEAR. The Brewers are 14-3 against the Giants in the last 17 times they have played in Milwaukee. The Crew is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall. Don’t hold back fellas, ride this hot streak out with me as we look to hit it big here.

Jordan’s Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -145 (BEST BET)

How was that DOUBLE WHAMMY on Wednesday night? The winning streak has hit nine in a row OVERALL and four in a row BEST BETS. The Jays/Reds OVER 8.5 hit by the end of the fourth inning as the Halos roughed up marquis just as I said they would as the LAA cruised with an easy victory. The wins are adding up and the cash pile has began to overflow. Let’s continue to tip that pile tonight.

Documented MLB Record:

85-58-1 OVERALL

33-19-1 BEST BETS
