New York Giants at Cleveland Browns NFL Betting Odds

Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson gets a chance to exact some revenge against a New York Giants team that put him down for the 10 count in the preseason. The New York Giants vs Cleveland Browns Monday Night Football match-up between the AFC bottom feeding Browns, and the Superbowl shining 4-0 NY Giants will be exciting. The NFL betting odds for the New York Giants vs Cleveland Browns game is New York -9 on the SPREAD.
Cleveland’s gifted but, underachieving offense, could get a boost with the return of WR Donte Stallworth (4.30 40-speed). Stallworth might not have a chance to get deep with his great speed however, with a Giants pass-rush that has recorded 15 sacks. Stallworth could be the missing link in a Cleveland offense that needs an underneath threat. The Browns are hoping that a bye week will help alleviate some timing issues the offense is having with QB Derek Anderson. If Anderson falters, the team could opt for backup Brady Quinn (6′3″ 235). Quinn is a quicker decision maker and has more mobility and field vision than Anderson. Underachieving on offense is 6′3″ 215 Lb. WR Braylon Edwards (4.45 40-speed) who has only averaged 8.6 YPC, and banged up, 6′4″ 248 Lb. TE Kellen Winslow, (450+ Bench Press) who has only 1 TD. Winslow is listed as doubtful to play Monday night. Winslow’s replacement, 10 year veteran Steve Heiden is a drop-off from Winslow. The Giants will try to attack a makeshift Cleveland Browns line with their vicious front seven. NT Barry Coefield (6′4″ 306) has emerged as a run stuffing menace in the middle. DT Fred Robbins (6′4″ 317) has provided heat up the middle also with 4.0 sacks. 6′5″ 275 Lb. DE Justin Tuck (3.0 sacks) explodes off the snap, and could bully banged up Cleveland RT Kevin Shaffer (6′6″ 325). Shaffer is coming off a concussion to make matters worse and is listed as probable. Cleveland 240 Lb. freight train RB Jamal Lewis, (4.55 40-speed) looked good running in the Browns 20-12 win over the Bengals. Lewis (3.4 YPC 1 TD) will need to be physical with the Giants #2 ranked defense early to gain their respect. The Giants run defense has a playmaker in MLB Antonio Pierce (23 tackles). Pierce has a great football brain and leads a run defense allowing only 81.0 yards per game. Pierce is listed as questionable to play with a thigh injury. Pierce says that he will be on the field come Monday night. The Giants secondary has some young talent with 6′2″ 210 Lb. FS Kenny Phillips (4.40 40-speed) and 6′0″ 193 CB Aaron Ross (4.35 40-speed). the Giants have not produced many turnovers in the secondary however, with only 2 INT’s. The NY Giants punting game is solid with P Jeff Feagles 40.1 net average. The Browns have the always dangerous Joshua Cribbs (4.40 40-speed) on returns. The NFL betting odds OVERUNDER for the Cleveland Browns vs New York Giants game is at 43.5 points.
Eli Manning is making a case for being the top NFL QB in the league. Manning has been burning defenders with quick drops and accurate reads. Manning gets 6′5″ bookend WR Plaxico Burress back this week from a one game suspension. Manning (55 MPH pass-speed = 95 MPH fastball) will look to link up with his old buddy Plax to makes sure he is happy. Burress (4.55 40-speed) will face a talented group of young Browns corners that are allowing only a 74.6 passer rating. CB’s Eric Wright (4.40 40-speed) and Brandon McDonald (4.45 40-speed) are solid cover corners along with hard-hitting safeties 6′2″ 205 FS Brodney Pool and 6′1″ 220 Lb. SS Sean Jones. Wright missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury. 4th year veteran CB Daven Holly (5′10″ 185) will start if Wright is unable to play, which is likely. The 5th year veteran Jones has Pro-Bowl ability. Jones is listed as questionable to play with a knee injury. The problem for Cleveland’s corners Holly, McDonald and nickelback Mike Adams is that they are all under 6′0″ tall. The 6′5″ Burress, 6′6″ TE Kevin Boss 6′3″ WR Amani Toomer and 6′2″ WR Domenik Hixon are mismatches for the Browns secondary. 6′4″ 350 Lb. Cleveland NT Shaun Rodgers will match power vs power in the trenches against 265 Lb. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs, along with Derrick Ward (6.6 YPC) and Ahmad Bradshaw (6.6 YPC 1 TD) are very dangerous backs capable of dominating games. Rodgers is again playing at a Pro-Bowl level in his 8th NFL season. Rodgers is listed as probable to play with a shoulder injury. Shaun will be counted on to slow a 7th ranked NY Giants offense that is multi-dimensional if he is on the field Monday night. The Browns have quietly put together a 3-4 defense that is ranked 6th in the NFL, but can they handle the Giants if their team can’t hide their time of possession issues? One area of hope for a slack Cleveland pass-rush that has only 6.0 sacks, is the injury to All-Pro Giants RT Kareem McKenzie.
This is a do-or-die game for Cleveland on Primetime telivision in front of their beloved dogpound. The Giants are indeed for real. The Browns will need better QB and offensive line play if theay are to pull the upset. The NFL betting odds MONEYLINE for the New York Giants vs Cleveland Browns game is New York -335 to-380.
