New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 7, 2008 by Jason Lowry

One of the biggest games this weekend in the NFL is a classic NFC East matchup that has the New York Giants heading to Philly to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for Sunday Night Football. The Giants are locked in at 7-1 ahead of the NFC East, but the Eagles are just 5-3 and needing every win they can get to stay in the playoff picture. Last week the Giants handed the Cowboys another loss, while the Eagles moved their winning streak to 3 games with a 26-7 win over the Seahawks on the road. The oddsmakers believe it or not have the Eagles listed as 3 point favorites over the Giants at Bookmaker.com
The Giants offense looked real good last week against the Cowboys as Eli Manning threw for 3 touchdowns, while Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward combined to run for 180 yards and 2 scores on just 29 carries. The Giants are a running team, but they have weapons on the outside like Burress than can make the big play. This team is the favorite to come out of the NFC as it stands right now, and a win on the road in Philly would convince about everyone. Look for the Giants to try an get the run game open early, and use play action to beat the Eagles deep.

The Giants defense I think has really shocked a lot of people with just how well it has played after losing arguably their two best defensive players last year. The thing is Justin Tuck is the next big thing at that position and he is really playing good of late, as he has 5.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in his last 3 games. Look for Tuck to be all over McNabb this weekend, as they have to put pressure on the veteran QB. Bet Giants +3 at Bookmaker.com
The Eagles come into this one red hot, and the offense has really got it clicking again with Westrbook back in the lineup. Last week against the Seahawks McNabb threw for nearly 350 yards and 2 scores, while Westbrook combined for 96 total yards. Now it wasn’t Westbrook’s biggest game, but he seems to find a way to make the big plays in big games. We think Westbrook will score, its just a matter of will the Giants keep everyone else in check.
The Eagles defense did a good job making sure the Seahawks didn’t get much going without their starting QB. They gave up just around 90 on the ground, and 170 through the air, while the only big offense play the defense gave up was a 90 yard pass during the first drive of the game. So just look at how well this defense did for the remaining 57 minutes. The Eagles will definitely play this one tough, just a matter of if the offense can put enough points on the board.
