Giants at Steelers Odds

Each week there is always a number of games that catch your attention, and this week it might be hard to find one bigger than the New York Giants heading away from home to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. With both teams coming in at 5-1 there are many fans and experts saying that these are the two best teams behind the Titans this season, and it could wind up being a good indication of which team is going to make that big push in the playoffs this season. The oddsmakers aren’t taking any risks in this one, as they have the Steelers 3 point favorites over the Giants.
The Giants got right back on track after getting it handed to them by the Browns on Monday Night Football, as they beat up on the 49ers at home for a 29-17 win. Eli Manning went back to throwing touchdowns and not giving the ball to the other team, but he did have his struggles completing just 16 of 31 passes. Where the Giants were most effective were on the ground, as Brandon Jacobs rocked out 69 yards and two scores on just 17 carries, and its a little confusing why this guy didn’t get the ball more. While Manning and receiver Plaxico Burress didn’t have their best day of hooking up, they were able to hook up on a big 6 yard touchdown in the 3rd quarter. Look for the Giants to try and get the run game going against the Steelers, but they are giving up just 78 yards on the ground, so it could wind up being on Eli’s arm to take the Giants to victory.
The Giants defense really played well last week, and if it wasn’t for a blocked field goal that the Niners took back to the house, the Giants wouldn’t of allowed a single point past the 11 minute mark in the 2nd quarter. Defensive end Justin Tuck was back at grabbing 2 big sacks and forcing two fumbles, and the Giants defense forced two more turnovers on interceptions. The Giants defense will be put to the test this week, as the Steelers have really turned in on as of late scoring 29 points a game on their current 3 game winning streak. Depending on the weather this one could wind up being high scoring or a straight up defensive showdown.
The Steelers come in on that 3 game winning steak, and they continue to win without star running back Willie Parker, as backup Mewelde Moore continues to impress. Moore ran for 120 yards and 2 score in the Steelers last game against the Bengals, and now has 225 yards in two fill in starts. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was pretty impressive as well throwing for 216 yards and two scores. The Steelers are unsure if Parker will be out again this week, but we don’t see that being any problem for the Steelers moving the football.
Just as the offense has turned it on the defense has as well, and they will have to keep that play going if they want to stop Manning and company this weekend. Last week they made easy work of the Bengals offense, as they allowed just 84 yards on the ground and just 164 through the air. This Steelers defense has been extra tough at home, so don’t expect the Giants to come out firing in this one.
Got something to say?
