Griffin Evans

With 2008 nearing its end, the UFC is making sure to give us a fight card to remember, as Saturday Dec. 27th UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are 3 huge fights taking place in this one, as Forrest Griffin defends his light heavyweight championship against Rashad Evans, ultimate fighter coaches Antonio Nogueira takes on Frank Mir, and hard hitting Wanderiel Silva and Quinton Jackson do battle as well. Today we are going to take a closer look at the main event between Griffin and Evans.

Forrest Griffin -140
Rashad Evans Even

Forrest Griffin (16-4-0)
Griffin comes into this fight off the huge win over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson where he was able to win by unanimous decision to take home the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. Griffin came into the fight off the huge win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua where no one was giving him the slightest chance to win that fight, and all Griffin did was dominate the fight and win by a rear naked choke hold. Griffin is a in your face fighter that will just keep coming at you. Now for those of you that follow the UFC closely, you know that Griffin was the season 1 winner of the Ultimate Fighter, and it just seems like this guy is no finding his place in this ultra competitive weight division. Griffin will have to use his huge frame to ware down Evans and hope that he can either land a big blow or do enough to impress the judges if it comes to a decision.

Rashad “Sugar” Evans (17-0-1)
Evans is one of the more explosive fighters the UFC has to offer, and for a guy that was all takedown and wrestling when he came into the UFC, this guy has really improved on his stand up, and if you haven’t seen the punch he landed on Chuck Liddell in his last fight, then you missed out on hell of a shot, as Liddell was knocked out cold. Evans is the season 2 winner of the Ultimate Fighter show, and this guy already has wins over guys like Michael Bisping, Sean Salmon, and Jason Lambert. Evans only non victory came in a draw against Tito Ortiz back at UFC 73. IF Evans wants to knockout Griffin he is going to have to land another big time shot, as Griffin has a heart and fight that never gives up.

Prediction:
We are taking Evans in this one, as this guy just keeps getting better and better with every single fight. Now we like what Griffin brings to the table, and he has a way of winning the fights where he looks outmatched, but we think Evans is going to dominate this fight, and though he might not win by knockout, we feel he will do plenty to win by unanimous decision if it goes to the judges.
