Best Handicapping System for the NBA

Everyone is always looking for the next best handicapping system for the NBA. There are many systems that have been tried over the years, however, the one thing they all have in common is that they are never guaranteed to win for you. The reason for this is that they are almost always based on past information, which usually means that they look great from the outside, but that they will eventually fail. A great example of this is the classic NBA road chase system. This system calls for you to bet against NBA teams who are on a road trip of four games or more. If they lose the first game (and you win your bet), you end the system, otherwise you continue to double your bets until they do lose and you cash a winning ticket. Logically, this system makes a lot of sense. Rarely do NBA teams win (or cover, for that matter) more than three games in a row. Back-checking this system you will see that it is very rare that a team wins four, five, or six road games in a row. The problem, of course, is that it does happen. When it does you bankroll takes a tremendous hit. Think about it. Even if you start with a wager to win $10, look at how quickly it escalates:

First Bet: $11 to win $10
Second Bet: $23.10 to win $21
Third Bet: $48.51 to win $44.10
Fourth Bet: $101.87 to win $92.61

With just four games down we've already put $184.48 into the system and the best profit we can expect out of it is our original $10 bet. This really isn't a great return for the risk involved. This isn't to say that the system (or systems in general) can't be profitable. In the example above maybe three or four per teams per year are likely to win 4+ games, however, if those games happen early in the season or close together you virtually destroy your profit margin. Think of it this way, you'd need to win roughly 19 series in a row just to make up for one losing one.

The purpose of this article is not to discourage you from finding winning NBA systems, it's just to show that even the best that have been found throughout the years have their flaws. Below we've provided an excellent tool that you can use to try to create your own systems. Again, there's no guarantee that anything you find will hold up over time, but the key is to keep on finding every possible way to beat the books.
