Hawks/Heat & Nuggets/Hornets Odds
Written April 27, 2009 by Jack Jones
Sunday was a great day for NBA betting enthusiasts with the Chicago Bulls beating the Boston Celtics in an exciting double overtime game and both the Sixers/Magic and Rockets/Blazers games coming down to the wire. You’ll likely see another blowout win like the Cavs had over the Pistons yesterday tonight when the Jazz head to LA to take on the Lakers down 3-1 in the series. However, expect some close games when the Hawks head to Miami and the Nuggets take on the Hornets in New Orleans. Let’s take a closer look at the NBA odds on these two games.
Atlanta at Miami (Heat -4.5, Total at 186) – The first game of this series was a 90-64 blowout Atlanta put down on the Heat, but Miami has bounced back to take the last two games of the series. Saturday was ugly as the Heat jumped on the Hawks early in their 107-78 win. Dwayne Wade struggled in the series opener but has bounced back with a pair of strong performances since. Last game was huge because Jermaine O’Neal finally stepped up and chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. Atlanta is struggling both on defense, in particular in allowing Miami to hit such a high rate from behind the 3-point line, and offensively with star Joe Johnson shooting just 33% in their two losses. He’s going to have to get going tonight to cash tickets for those of you taking the Hawks with your NBA picks.
Denver at New Orleans (Hornets -2.5, Total at 193.5) – In this series all of the attention has been on the point guards, and for good reason. The first two games in Denver belonged to Chauncey Billups, who had 30 points in each game as the Nuggest both won and covered easily. Then the series shifted to New Orleans and Chris Paul joined the party. In Game 3 Paul had 32 points and 12 assists while playing 46 minutes, while Billups was held to just 16 as New Orleans escaped with the win. Injuries are playing a big role in this series as well. The Hornets only have an eight-man deep roster and both Tyson Chandler and James Posey are banged up, plus Paul has to be tired after playing so much on Saturday. The Nuggets on the other hand have to be concerned that Carmelo Anthony isn’t at full strength after banging his elbow on Saturday night. He’s going to play but who knows how effective he will be.

Got something to say?

My gut tells me take Denver and the Heat!! You could be right and it could be close games but, look for Miami to come out strong and the same with Denver. I think Denvers defense will take a stand tonight!! I say on a scale of 1-4 both bets are a 3. The Lakers are talking big about coming out and wanting to win this game by 15 plus points so that they can go on and get rest but Utah has got nothing to lose so I expect them to play their toughest game. I think the Lakers/Utah game is a watcher and not a bettor.
