Horse Racing Betting Tips
Written February 27, 2008 by Jack Jones
Horse racing is one of my favorite betting activities. You don’t have to spend much and you can sit there for a long period of time watching simulcast races from across the country, all from the comfort of the air conditioned racebook.
There are a lot of you out there who feel the same way as I do about betting on the ponies, so here are a few tips that I have for anyone looking to get started in this great form of gambling.
Knowledge of Breeding
Specs of the Race Track – surface, turns, length
Track Bias in Horse’s Previous Starts
Jockey Skills
Trainer Skills
Current Form of the Horse
How the Horse Does in Similar Track Conditions
How the Horse Perform’s at This Race’s Distance
Pace of the Race
How to Read the Daily Racing Form
With a $2 wager on a long-shot offering a big upside this might seem like a great way to pass the time in comparasion to the $25 minimum you’ll find at the blackjack tables. The thing to remember is that even though the bets are small and the time between races can be long, the house does hold an edge of nearly 18-22% on racing wagers.
