Houston at Central Florida College Football Betting Lines

Written November 11, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

The Houston Cougars continued their amazing season last weekend with a stunning come from behind 46-45 victory over Tulsa. The Cougars recovered an onside kick and their kicker, Matt Hogan, made a 51 yard field goal as time expired to put them over the top. There were definitely very few football picks preseason that predicted the Cougars to be this good. Central Florida played Texas close for a half last weekend, but the Longhorns were too much for UCF to handle.  Central Florida is no slouch at home so Houston will have their work cut out for them in this match up. If you want to get in the game and  bet on football, sign up at Bodog and receive an unlimited 10% bonus on your first deposit.

Case Keenum’s name keeps coming up in the Heisman race, and he deserves it. Case Keenum has thrown for 3,815 yards and has 32 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions this year. If that isn’t enough, he has a completion percentage of 71%. Those numbers are as good as you will ever see, and Keenum is a huge reason Houston is at #12 in the country right now. To put it into perspective, Keenum is averaging 424 yards per game passing through 9 games this season, a truly amazing statistic. While Keenum is clearly the team leader he has help from Bryce Beall and Charles Sims in the backfield. The two of them average about 5 yards per carry, which keeps opposing defenses on their heels. James Cleveland already has 11 touchdowns receiving and Tyrone Carrier is a great kick returner and a reliable receiver. The Cougars defense is definitely not their strong point. Many times this year they have had to win games by outscoring their opponent. The Cougars defense is giving up 470 yards of offense a game, 220 of that on the ground.

Central Florida sits at 5-4 entering this game. The Knights have lost only once at home this season and that was against a very good Miami Hurricanes squad. The Knights are a very different team from the Cougars, which will make this an interesting game. Central Florida is strong defensively, but not particularly good on the offensive side of the football. Central Florida’s Brynn Harvey has been a workhorse in the backfield, but he only averages 3.9 yards per carry. Brett Hodges is the starting quarterback if he is healthy, and he has done a decent job, but it just seems there is a real lack of firepower on the offense of the Knights this year. The defense has kept them in many games this season. The defense is allowing just 21 points per game and only 88 yards per game on the ground.

The college football odds for this weekend show Houston as a 4.5 road favorite in this Conference USA match up. The posted total is set at 63 points. Houston is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the spread, but they are just 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 road games. Central Florida is 6-2 against the spread in their last 8 games. The under is 12-3-1 in UCF’s last 16 home games. The experts making the college football picks on the over/under will definitely have a tough time deciding which side to play in this one.

I think this will be a fun game to watch since you have two contrasting styles of play. UCF will want to control the ball and keep Case Keenum off the field, while Houston will be looking to hurry things up and get into a track meet. The pressure will be on the UCF defense to hold down Houston’s great offense in this one.

Make sure to take a look at my premium subscription packages. I will be making at least 8 or 10 NCAA Football picks this weekend as well as several NBA and NFL plays, so trying out a 3 day guaranteed all access package makes a lot of sense.
