How to Bet on Super Bowl 45
Written by Steve Janus
Super Bowl 45 between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers is set to kickoff this Sunday at 6:30 ET. The game will be played at Cowboys Stadium and will be televised nationally on Fox.
For those of you thinking about betting on the game this weekend, here is a closer look at the different types of bets you can make.
Moneyline: The most simple bet you can make on Super Bowl 45 is simply picking who you think will win the game. Sports Interaction’s Super Bowl odds currently have Green Bay listed at -135 to win outright, while Pittsburgh comes in at +115.
For those of you who might not understand what the +/- means, because Green Bay is favored, you would have to bet 135 (-135) to win $100. For the Steelers if you were to bet $100 you would win $115 (+115). As you might guess many times the underdog is a popular bet on the moneyline, because of their higher payout, but don’t be surprised to see a lot of people jumping on Green Bay as well.
Against the Spread: Betting the spread is very similar to betting the moneyline, expect one team could lose the game and still beat the spread. The Packers are currently listed at -2.5 (-115), while the Steelers are +2.5 (-105).
That means if Green Bay wins the game by more than 2 points, they also cover the spread, but any else and the Steelers cover.
Notice if you want to bet the Packers on the spread, its only $20 more bucks to just take them straight up and not have to worry about how much they win by. Also if you like the Steelers +2.5, you might want to think abut taking them at +115 on the moneyline, instead of paying $105 to win $100. Steelers pull out the win, and you win an extra $15!
Total: Sports Interaction currently has the total for Super Bowl 45 coincidentally set at 45 points. That means you can either place a bet on the total score of the game to go over 45 (-110) or under 45 (-110). Notice you get the same odds regardless of which side you take, meaning you have to bet $110 to win $100 whether you take the over or the under.
Here you basically are predicting how the game will go, and in this Super Bowl you are pretty much picking whether you think the two top defenses will dominate, or will Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers find a way to put points on the board.
Props: Here you can bet on all kinds of different things dealing with the game itself. For instance you can bet on who will score the first touchdown, how many rushing yards will Rashard Mendenhall have, or how many touchdowns will Aaron Rodgers throw. These are just a few of many prop bets you can make on Super Bowl 45.
While this may seem a bit over the top for some fans, many experts feel like they have a great grasp on how the game will go, and will make a killing on these bets. Take a look and see what you can find, some people believe these are easier than picking the winner of the game!
