Editors Note: Professional handicapper Jason Lowry has a big play going on the Central Michigan Northern Illinois game this weekend, so start your week off right with a big win on Wednesday night.

Get ready for more MAC Conference football this Wednesday, as the Northern Illinois Huskies take on the Central Michigan Chippewas, in a very important matchup out of the West division. Last week the Chippewas went out of conference play and beat the Indiana Hoosiers 37-34 on the road. It wasn’t such a good week for the Huskies, as they got beat up by No. 14 Ball State 45-14. Central Michigan is a perfect 5-0 in conference play, and a win this week over Northern Illinois gives them a shot to win the division, as they still have a matchup with Ball State next week. The oddsmakers have Northern Illinois 3 point favorites at home over Central Michigan at BetUS.com

After starting the season at just 2-2 the Chippewas have responded by rolling off 5 straight victories, and last week against the Hoosiers they racked up 522 yards of total offense. Now with that many yards you wouldn’t expect the Chippewas to have just 37 yards on the ground, but they were simply unable to run the ball, as they tried 31 times to get just 37 yards. Now the passing game was a different story, as quarterback Brian Brunner threw it 53 times for 485 yards for 4 touchdowns, and added another score on a 1 yard touchdown run. Brunner and company will look to attack through the air again this week, and it could be trouble if they don’t find some way to run the football better.

The Chippewas defense didn’t have their best showing last week giving up 272 yards on the ground to the Hoosiers and another 213 yards on the ground. This unit has to play better, and if they don’t pick it up on the road this week, they could very easily walk away from this one with their first loss in conference play this season, as the Hoosier are a bottom of the barrel team in the Big 10 this season. The Huskies had little of anything going last week against Ball State, as the offense managed just 275 yards of total offense. The majority of the offense came from quarterback Chandler Harnish, as he threw for 115 yards, and added another 59 yards on the ground, including a 25 yard run for a score. The offense has to think it will play better at home this week, as they have yet to lose on their home field this season. Its likely the Huskies are going to have to put a good number of points on the board this week, as the Chippewas have only failed to score under 20 points once this season.

The Huskies defense is much better than the performance they put on display last weekend, as the Huskies had only allowed 49 points their previous 6 games. Still giving up 529 yards is something that can’t just be over looked. They gave up 219 yards on the ground, and 310 yards through the air. We don’t think the Chippewas have the same fire power that Ball State has, but they should still be a solid challenge for the Huskies this weekend. Bet Northern Illinois -3 at BetUS.com
