Jack’s Free NCAA Basketball Picks: 3/19

Written March 18, 2009 by Jack Jones

carolina-girlsWe squeak out a few units of profit on Wednesday night due to the Heat covering for our BEST BET winner.  Tough break on the Sixers game as a late three that should have been called off cost us a push.

I wanted to get the newsletter out early and the post up as soon as possible so you guys could hop on board the free pick and know a few games I’ve already circled.  I have a 20* No-Brainer play going on the Mississippi State/Washington game and two 15* going late with Michigan/Clemson and American/Villanova.  What a great time of year and I’m ready to cash in.  I’ll be working on a few more games here tonight and will post the packages as the picks become available.  Any NBA will be posted tomorrow afternoon as well.

Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

The run to March Madness is on at SPORTSBETTING.COM.  They have great bonuses for new customers, plus re-load bonuses for subsequent deposits.  Head to SPORTSBETTING.COM today, signup for a new account, and enter their huge March Madness contest!

Make sure you check out the March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com.  Just tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free picks and I’ll send you tonight’s 15* CBB pick on Michigan/Clemson for free.  Please note that I send out this pick around 5 PM EST, so if you post after that you will have to wait for tomorrow’s freebie!

Free Picks for Thursday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer. Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

North Carolina -25 over Radford at BetUS

I am playing the Tar Heels today even though I fully expect Ty Lawson will be sitting on the sidelines. The line has dropped almost two points with the news Lawson will be out and that’s just kept pace with what my expectations would have been. I know he’s the catalyst for the offense, but North Carolina is putting up 90 ppg this year and will be facing a Radford team that went 21-11 with only one game being big enough to earn a point spread, and that was their conference championship against VMI. The Tar Heels will be playing in Greensboro, which is around 50 miles from campus so even without Lawson you can expect the Highlanders to be outmatched down the line. Sure Artsiom Parakhouski put up 16.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, but how is he going to do against last year’s Player of the Year in Tyler Hansbrough? Not well.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 49-33
NBA: 21-25
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

think this one will b less than 20 at the end. UNC iwill take this one for granted. I believe at one point it will be at 25 points but see the bench getting a lot of playing time.

no way they cover these points Jack – no need to run up the score in the tournament – they will get all the bodies in this game once they are up by 15-20

Don’t like this play, Yes they should easily cover, but they will overlook this team and play lethargic.

Things get crazy during the Tournament. The unpredictable happens a lot. I would not bet on Radford to lose by 25 plus. I don’t care who they’re playing. I think Radford is excited to be there, and I think they’ll have some pride and play hard. UNC by less than 25.

easily they need to prove to the critics that they can win without Lawson and unfortunately Radford will be the example UNC will use today.
