Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 1/9
Written January 9, 2009 by Jack Jones
Well I nailed the BCS Championship game with Florida last night giving me a strong finish to the college football season by going 6-0 in bowl games since New Year’s Day! Unfortunately, the good news ends there with one of my worst nights in awhile in hoops. Let’s get back on the winning side of things tonight with three plays on the premium side. I feel like oddsmakers really missed the boat on one game tonight, my 20* NBA Double-Digit Bloodbath, which should be total domination. Also on the premium side I’ve got 15* plays in college basketball and the NBA, both of which I have great angles on. Join me for a strong night of college basketball and NBA betting. Free Picks for Friday Remember that these are the weakest plays I’ve picked out, and will not be playing them personally. The best bets on the board will always be available only to premium subscribers. Where do I find these lines? Miami Heat -4.5 at BetUS It’s safe to say that the Miami Heat have rebounded pretty well from their terrible campaign last season. They are just 2 games over .500, but even that is a huge accomplishment for a team that won just 15 games all of last season. The Heat head into Sacramento team that looks a bit like Miami did last year at just 8-28 on the year. The Heat have had pretty good success against the spread in this series with a 14-3 record in the last 17 meetings. The Kings are only 6-11 on their home court this year and just 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 home games. I don’t think it will be a 26 point beat-down by the Heat like the last meeting between these two teams, but I could easily see it getting out of hand as bad as Sacramento has been this year.
Manhattan Jaspers -6 at BetUS I like the Manhattan Jaspers to get out early with their fast-tempo offense and jump all over the Marist Red Foxes tonight in MAAC play. The Marist defense has been roughed up for 73 points per game, while the Jaspers have a defense that’s been tough to solve at home, allowing only 61.5 points per game. Marist has beaten the spread in just 1 of their last 6 road games and are only 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. Meanwhile, the Jaspers are 5-1 against the number in their last 6 conference games, not to mention the home team in this series has covered the spread 8 of the last 8 meetings. Take on Manhattan tonight.
