Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 2/27

Written February 27, 2009 by Jack Jones

luvabullsStill ice cold after my 0-2 day yesterday, but with my “near miss” plays that are released here as free picks continuing to hit, one would have to believe our luck is about to change.  Still 17-9 on our last 26 with basketball BEST BETS and 20-13 on our last 33 in the NBA, even if it seems like over the past couple of weeks the whole world has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Big card for Friday as we try to get back on track.  I have five games pegged in the NBA, all 15* winners and all are sides and not totals.  I rarely play Friday CBB, but tonight I really liked one Ivy League game and it’s my 20* No Doubt Rout.  Most other handicappers would probably call this their Ivy League Game of the Year, if only because I rarely have a BEST BET in the league, but I don’t want anyone thinking this game is stronger than any of my other 20* plays.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s 20*!  I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in.  I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.  Also, be sure to check out the March Madness Contest taking place between myself and another handicapper!

Free Pick for Friday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS.  I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.  Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Chicago Bulls -5 over Washington Wizards at Sports Interaction

The Bulls may have lost two of three with their new lineup, but the team has gone 10-3 ATS over their last 13 games.  Chicago was up on New Jersey Wednesday night before running out of energy due to the back-to-back situation.  Washington hasn’t really been doing anything right lately and they are allowing their opponents to shoot the ball at way too high of a rate.  Witht he Bulls shooting 48% over their last five games I am having trouble picturing Washington keeping pace.

Iona -2.5 over St. Peter’s at Sports Interaction

St. Peter’s isn’t shooting the ball at a very high rate and they are turning the ball over way too often.  Iona does a good job of forcing turnovers and they get to the foul line.  The Gaels lost by three on their home floor to the Peacocks a month ago, and I think they will want to return the favor here tonight.  Last year Iona came into town and won by eight, and I’m seeing a similar result tonight.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 42-26
NBA: 16-18
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I like the Bulls pick, Washington hasn’t been doing anything lately. The Iona pick im not sure on, St. Peters beat Iona on the road, now they are at home. but your reasoning is good. Like both of them

Both picks look good, iona on the revenge factor alone is good considering their tendencies to avenge tough losses, not to mention chicago being about a ten point favorite in my mind. keep em comin jack

Good choice on the under yesterday Jack. I like taking advantage of revenge games so I will be with you on that one. I also think Chicago will do double digits… if they are in the mood. I feel like they have such an x factor that I can’t put my finger on.

Friday nights are not the best of nights, as has been said elsewhere. However I have four picks, and I bet I don’t go worse than 2-2

I don’t like Jack’s pick tonight of Iona (-3). I think it is an even game – could go either way so I’ll take the points.

    Columbia (+5) over Harvard
    Princeton (-7) over Brown
    St. Peters (+3) over Iona
Loyola Chicago (+2) over Loyola Illinois
