Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 2/28

Written February 28, 2009 by Jack Jones

bucksFinally got the BEST BETS back on track last night with an easy win on Cornell.  Hopefully that continues with the March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers coming up starting tomorrow.  That moves me to 18-9 on my last 27 with basketball BEST BETS.  The Warriors faded down the stretch to cost us a real big day, but Saturday should give us plenty of opportunities as well.

I’m getting this out early because I have a 20* CBB going early.  I feel pretty good about this one, and it’s the only CBB premium I currently have.  I’m still studying the late games and will post them as I go, but won’t send out another update.  In the NBA I have a PAIR of winners, a 20* NBA No Brainer going late, and also a 15* winner.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA 20*!  I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in.  I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Pick for Saturday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS.  I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.  Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Milwaukee Bucks -6.5 over Washington at Bookmaker

The Bucks put up a valiant effort last night to fall just a little bit short against the New Orleans Hornets, while the Wizards easily took care of the Chicago Bulls last night.  Washington has now won three of their last five games and have scored more than 107 points in each of the victories.  However, that game was at home, and the Wizards are just 4-23 this year away from DC, losing by an average of 10 ppg.  Milwaukee on the other hand has been a surprising 17-11 on their home floor and averaging a win by nearly 5 ppg.  The Bucks have covered four out of the last five times these two teams have played, and I see that string continuing here tonight.

Villanova -6.5 over Georgetown at Bookmaker

This Georgetown team has packed it in for the year and has been a real disappointment at 14-12.  Villanova on the other hand is 14-1 at home and have won nine of their last 10 games.  They are coming off a close win against DePaul the other night, but who wouldn’t be looking past that team right now.  The Hoyas on the other hand have won four straight games against Villanova, so Jay Wright isn’t going to let his bunch take the recent Hoya downturn too seriously.  The Wildcats are much too athletic of a bunch, scoring 77.4 ppg while holding opponents under 67.  Georgetown won’t have an answer for Dante Cunningham and Scottie Reynolds here today.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 42-27
NBA: 16-19
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I like the Milwaukee pick. Washington has been bad on the road, and they are playing back to back. Milwaukee is the better team here and at home. I dont like the Nova pick, Georgetown will come to play and try to spoil Novas day.

Nova should win against Gtown. Gtown looks finished. Aslo, Nova should come out motivated for this one. Good call.

I like the BUcks pick because washington is just terrible. Sad the bulls couldnt beat them last nite. On the other hand villinova should cover but georgetown does have the potential to keep the game close.

I believe Georgetown will come to play, and I do agree that Villanove is the better team here, but I am going with Georgetown plus the points. The Bucks are a good choice and I already had placed a bet before I saw your picks. Thanks Jack
