Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/2
Written March 2, 2009 by Jack Jones
Rough day yesterday as we drop our BEST BET and go 1-2 in NBA action. Not the way I wanted to start off the challenge with Trev Rogers as his big play dominates easily.
I’ll be ready to bounce back strong on Monday with a 20* No Brainer going in college basketball. We are still 20-10 on our last 30 with BEST BETS so get ready to cash in on a game I think will be a blowout! We also have an NBA Line Mistake going on the Hornets/Sixers to cap off what I hope to be a 2-0 performance. Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.
Make sure you check out the March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.
Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA Line Mistake*! I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in. I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.
Free Pick for Monday
So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer. Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!
Atlanta Hawks -4 over Washington at Sports Interaction
I’m not afraid to lay the small number here with Atlanta on the road as the Hawks have won three straight games at the Verizon Center and five straight overall against Washington. Atlanta is struggling with losses in four of their last five games, so they should be hoping to end that streak by buckling down tonight against the lowly Wizards. Washington has gone just 10-21 at home this year and with Atlanta needing to get back on track I see them winning handily tonight.
Free Pick Records:
CBB: 42-28
NBA: 17-20
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1
I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I agree with the free pick
Washington is the worst team in the NBA and the hawks will be looking to bounce back after last nights difficuilt loss

It’s going to be tough game….
I think..they cannot cover washington…
washington is going to win..this game…
Reply
Looks to me like you are searching.
ATL is weak and this is not the spot
for a turn around

I’m definitely not “searching”, but I may be wrong on this game. I can also see why you would be scared off of the Hawks, kind of why I had to make it only a freebie and not a stronger premium.
Reply
I agree. Unless Butler & Jamison each get over 25 it should be a cover.
Reply
Is the President coming tonight…. I would get his schedule before playing against the Wizards at home! Seriously- this looks like a dangerous play to me.
Reply
Alt. will have to have a great game to cover, let alone to win straight up..
Reply
I’m going the other way on this game. The Hawks lost a rough one at home last night to the Cavs after blowing a 7 point lead late. I think they come out extremely flat and end up losing this game outright.
Reply
Jack, this is your best bet?!?!?! I don’t think Atlanta has played well enough to even consider a road win even in Washington especially after a national tough game agained the Cavs. Hopefully your line mistake is more hopeful.

Free picks are not my best bets, those can be found in the forum under the Jack/Trev challenge.

cashed in good last night with dall-5.5 good job. hope
atl-4 tonight will do the same. gl
Reply
I agree with you Jack. I think Atlanta comes out strong tonight and beats a terrible Washington team.
Reply
Mix feelings about this game. Most likely i will stay away.

Always good to pass when you don’t feel good about a game. I get too many emails about people forcing action and it frustrates the hell out of me.
Reply
I am going with atl but if the jump to 5 or more I may stay aw*y from this not that impressed with them on the road my pick today is the0 sixers

I on the opposite side of you today Gary, but the line is dropping on that game now so hope you waited. That way Philly wins by 3 and my +3.5 wins and your -2 gives you the cash!
Reply
Love it. I was going that way anyway
Reply
Hawks are upset with yesterday’s close loss to Clevelnad. They will come out firing tonight and will cover.
Reply
Definitely Atl will crush by 9 or 10.Thanks Jack

I’m having a hard time going with Atlanta, considering their latest struggles on the road. I’m laying off this play because it isn’t strong enough. I will take the Atlanta cheerleader at the top of this comment section however.

Good call last night on the Hawks, so today I will eat humble pie, and I must say it doesn’t taste good. I just didn’t think the play was strong enough based on road stats, and recent road play. I also know that these aren’t your strongest plays. When I’m wrong and disagree with your choice, and we can have fun with it, is what makes this forum great. So kudos to you my friend for last nights free pick. Take Care
Reply
they held their own last night on the floor…and i look for them to have some tired legs…but they cover easily over a very weak washington
Reply
wizards is very tough at home. I think Atlanta might win the game but won’t cover the spread.
Reply
i think after last nite’s loss the hawks will not cover this spread.
Reply
tough match up.
Reply
atlanta had a tough loss but played good enough to beat the best team in the east. they will win this game tonight as washington continues to lose against the spread.
washington is 22-36 ATS this season and 12-19 ATS at home.
atlanta 31-27 ATS this season and 17-14 ATS on the road.
Good pick lets win more money jack.

Great info Will and I’m all for winning more money.
Reply
I’ll probably stay away from this one, but if I had to go one way or the other, I’d pick Atlanta with a 6 pt bounce-back win after last night’s tough loss.
Reply
I think you’re right Jack.I think Atl. will take the
memory of last night’s tough loss to turn the tide and
win and cover in the last quarter.
Reply
i think atl will cover with ease against a weak wizards team
Reply
Atlanta is a young team that is losing gas down the stretch – Washington will cover at home
Reply
Going with Hawks as well tonight, let’s get this one and get back the cash lost from last night…GL
Reply
ouch jack sorry afraid I can’t agree here don’t beleieve the hawks will cover let alone win the game
Reply
Can’t see Atl winning this game. Washington isn’t the best team but still. Good luck!
Reply
i think im gonna stay away from this one, tough to call after an upsetting lose last night against the cavs and blowing a lead
Reply
I’m with you Jack. If any team needs to get back on board Washington is the team to play.
Reply
Atlanta has been horrible as a road favorite (1-5ATS, I believe). But tonight’s game sets up favorably for them since they essentially got burned by the officials in last night’s game as Lebron was awarded two foul shots to clinch the win with only 1.6 seconds left on the clock, a rare occurence in the NBA, unless you happen to be Lebron James. Atlanta utilizes that loss as fuel for a win/cover this evening.

Rare and LeBron seem to go hand-in-hand.
Reply
Wrong, Washington will win this game outright. The president started them on a winning streak.

Is he lacing it up for them tonight? I’ve heard he’s actually got some decent game.
Reply
show me the money Jack
Reply
hawks are tired, very possible washington squeezes out a win tonight
Reply
Hawks are tired as they played a very intense, high energy game last nite. But Washington is a weak team and is having trouble beating anyone. The hawks will not have a let down as they will somewhat easily.
Reply
Atlanta lost a tough game yesterday to the cavs. Maybe they will be looking to bounce back against a questionable wizards team. Solid play on the Hawks to win by more than 4 points.
Reply
Hawks will prevail…
Reply
i feel like the wiz will keep it close for a while but in the end get beat by 7-10 pts
Reply
I also think Atl will bounce back. It is not a great play but for a free play it as some merit. Good luck Jack.
Reply
It seems to me that Atlanta will cover this spread. They need to get out of the funk that they are in, and this is a good opportunity to do so. I agree with you Mr. Jones.
Reply
I love this game easy cash.
Reply
Atalanta easily, safe bet
Reply
I love fading the Wiz.but The Hawks played a tough bruising game and then to have to travel after emotional loss by 1 on their own floor. I could see this one going either way.
Good Luck
Reply
I agree Jack. Atlanta cant wait to get back on the floor tonight after barely losing last night. With Joe Johnson getting back to form in the second half and Mike Bibby getting over his sickness I think the Hawks win by about 10. Expect key contributions from the bench as well, Flip Murray, Zaza Pachulia, and Maurice Evans. When Atlanta played as a favorite during the last 4 Years with straight up victories in 1 of last 5 games their record is 20-4. Lay the small number.

Great stuff here Willie, thanks for the contribution.
Reply
man you must not like Washington, your 1-1 on the picks against Washington. Hawks will have a big game as Joe Johnson leads them to another victory!
Reply
Atl as well, they cost me big time last night as I had all my money on Cle. They owe me one tonight
Reply
hope your right, i need a win!
Reply
I like the pick. Also like Villanova on the money line.

Jack Jones Reply:

If you like Villanova tonight then I think the money line is a good call. I don’t think the points come into play.
Reply
i like the pick, they need to bounce back after the loss and this is the perfect opportunity
Reply
its a good pick.atl is the best young team in the nba
Reply
like you say washington have a poor record at home and i actualy thing atlanta will hit back and win by 10 points.
Reply
There is not much to say about this game if they play with the same intensity they played yesterday.. i can’t see difficulties for the Hawks to get home this game.

Nice call Jack……
