Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/2

Written March 2, 2009 by Jack Jones

atlanta-hawks-girlsRough day yesterday as we drop our BEST BET and go 1-2 in NBA action.  Not the way I wanted to start off the challenge with Trev Rogers as his big play dominates easily.

I’ll be ready to bounce back strong on Monday with a 20* No Brainer going in college basketball.  We are still 20-10 on our last 30 with BEST BETS so get ready to cash in on a game I think will be a blowout!  We also have an NBA Line Mistake going on the Hornets/Sixers to cap off what I hope to be a 2-0 performance.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Make sure you check out the  March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA Line Mistake*!  I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in.  I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Pick for Monday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS.  I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.  Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Atlanta Hawks -4 over Washington at Sports Interaction

I’m not afraid to lay the small number here with Atlanta on the road as the Hawks have won three straight games at the Verizon Center and five straight overall against Washington.  Atlanta is struggling with losses in four of their last five games, so they should be hoping to end that streak by buckling down tonight against the lowly Wizards.  Washington has gone just 10-21 at home this year and with Atlanta needing to get back on track I see them winning handily tonight.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 42-28
NBA: 17-20
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

Looks to me like you are searching.
ATL is weak and this is not the spot
    for a turn around

    Jack Jones Reply:

I’m definitely not “searching”, but I may be wrong on this game. I can also see why you would be scared off of the Hawks, kind of why I had to make it only a freebie and not a stronger premium.

I agree. Unless Butler & Jamison each get over 25 it should be a cover.

I’m going the other way on this game. The Hawks lost a rough one at home last night to the Cavs after blowing a 7 point lead late. I think they come out extremely flat and end up losing this game outright.

Jack, this is your best bet?!?!?! I don’t think Atlanta has played well enough to even consider a road win even in Washington especially after a national tough game agained the Cavs. Hopefully your line mistake is more hopeful.

Good call last night on the Hawks, so today I will eat humble pie, and I must say it doesn’t taste good. I just didn’t think the play was strong enough based on road stats, and recent road play. I also know that these aren’t your strongest plays. When I’m wrong and disagree with your choice, and we can have fun with it, is what makes this forum great. So kudos to you my friend for last nights free pick. Take Care

atlanta had a tough loss but played good enough to beat the best team in the east. they will win this game tonight as washington continues to lose against the spread.

washington is 22-36 ATS this season and 12-19 ATS at home.

atlanta 31-27 ATS this season and 17-14 ATS on the road.

Good pick lets win more money jack.

Atlanta has been horrible as a road favorite (1-5ATS, I believe). But tonight’s game sets up favorably for them since they essentially got burned by the officials in last night’s game as Lebron was awarded two foul shots to clinch the win with only 1.6 seconds left on the clock, a rare occurence in the NBA, unless you happen to be Lebron James. Atlanta utilizes that loss as fuel for a win/cover this evening.

Hawks are tired as they played a very intense, high energy game last nite. But Washington is a weak team and is having trouble beating anyone. The hawks will not have a let down as they will somewhat easily.

Atlanta lost a tough game yesterday to the cavs. Maybe they will be looking to bounce back against a questionable wizards team. Solid play on the Hawks to win by more than 4 points.

I agree Jack. Atlanta cant wait to get back on the floor tonight after barely losing last night. With Joe Johnson getting back to form in the second half and Mike Bibby getting over his sickness I think the Hawks win by about 10. Expect key contributions from the bench as well, Flip Murray, Zaza Pachulia, and Maurice Evans. When Atlanta played as a favorite during the last 4 Years with straight up victories in 1 of last 5 games their record is 20-4. Lay the small number.
