Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/26

Written March 26, 2009 by Jack Jones

memphis-missouriWe cash in on yet another 20* in the NBA yesterday on the Celtics/Magic UNDER.  That brings us to 33-22 with our last 55 on basketball BEST BETS and we are now 12-4 on our last 16 in the NBA.  For Thursday we have a small card for now with a 15* on the Lakers/Pistons and our 20* CBB No-Brainer going on Xavier/Pitt.  A couple of totals are also being looked at in college basketball.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

The run to March Madness is on at SPORTSBETTING.COM.  They have great bonuses for new customers, plus re-load bonuses for subsequent deposits.  Head to SPORTSBETTING.COM today, signup for a new account, and enter their huge March Madness contest!

Make sure you check out the March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s CBB 20* play! I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Picks for Thursday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer. Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Memphis -4.5 over Missouri at BetUS

I think the Tigers continue to show value despite having won 27 straight games.  Missouri almost blew a 16 point lead against Marquette, who might have had Dominic James back in their lineup but he wasn’t at full strength.  I think Memphis will have very little trouble with Missouri’s press do to the height of their guards.  The Missouri players have over-achieved just making it this far, while Calipari and company have their sites on the Final Four and another national championship game.  I see Memphis winning this game easily so lay the points.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 50-35
NBA: 22-27
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I have Memphis in my bracket and winning it all so I like your play. So looking at it objectively, the Missou forwards are better and they are a more disciplined team. Memphis can get into a street ball run and gun and can lead to turnovers quick. But Memphis has been to the championship before and at this late in the tourney the coaching and crunch time players should play better…tough game to call.

Memphis covers easily, winning by 6-8 points. They have the edge on talent, having 3-4 guys that will end up in the NBA. I also like their tourney experience.

I like Memphis because of their guard play and the height and strength advantage they have on the Mizz guards. Memphis should have been a 1 seed.

Memphis has too many weapons to lose this game. I don’t think Missouri will counter well enough in this spot. A three point buy makes this bet a near lock. At -4.5 it’s a little iffy but still has a good chance.

i see this track meet coming down to the wire. memphis seems untested and mizzou seems to be outworking teams. dont like the spread being -4.5 although the cover could come down to free throws in the end. i think memphis wins and mizzou covers so take the points or play the memphis ML because mike davis knows calipari and this matchup stays close. get the popcorn ready…this will be the best game to watch tonight!

This game will be very telling. Memphis hasn’t really had to show its hand much in this tourney until tonight. Mizzou’s athleticism, speed, and discipline, plus the fact that coach Anderson of Mizzou knows Calipari well from his days in Conference USA, will expose Memphis tonight. CAL-Northridge gave Memphis fits…..no coincidence when we see Memphis once again fighting for their lives this evening. Calling the upset. Mizzou moves on.
