Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/31

Written March 31, 2009 by Jack Jones

blazers-jazzAn ugly Monday but we are ready to bounce back on Tuesday with a pretty strong card.  I have a PAIR of 20* BEST BETS going on Tuesday, both of which are in the NBA.  One of them is on the Lakers/Bobcats and the second is on the Pistons/Cavs.  Also on today’s card are a PAIR of 15* NBA winners and the 15* CIT winner on Old Dominion/Bradley. Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

The run to March Madness is on at SPORTSBETTING.COM.  They have great bonuses for new customers, plus re-load bonuses for subsequent deposits.  Head to SPORTSBETTING.COM today, signup for a new account, and enter their huge March Madness contest!

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA 15* play! I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Picks for Tuesday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer. Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Portland Blazers -5.5 over Utah Jazz at Bookmaker

I keep going back to these Jazz games with the free picks and it hasn’t turned out so well, but I like them to go down tonight against Portland.  Utah hasn’t beaten a single Western Conference playoff contender on the road this year, and it’s too late in the year to think something is going to change for tonight.  The Jazz are 0-14 on the road against teams above .500 and 0-9 against above .500 teams in the Western Conference.  Portland is 15-2 in their last seven games games and are coming off a 86-66 win over Memphis the other night.  Utah lost by 14 points at the end of January in Portland and I see a similar result taking place tonight.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 50-36
NBA: 23-30
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer and stop by every day for more free NBA picks from top handicappers.

Just missed that Jazz Under (213) yesterday. I mentioned that the Jazz would not cover if it went Over and was that ever true. Sloan must have blown a few veins watching his gteam give up their lead in the third quarter to the Knicks last night. You’d think he’d be use to it by now. Nevertheless, I’m sure he’s infuriated that his starters had to remain in the game till the bitter end just to eke out the win. Too bad for Utah, ’cause they’ll pay for it tonight in Portland. Portland (-5.5) should be a strong play.

I like this pick! I don’t think the Jazz will be able to keep with he Blazers tonight as they have been struggling a bit lately.

I agree with this pick. Utah hasn’t played well on the road this season, and they are coming off a battle with NY last night.

I like Portland at home. They should roll over the Jazz tonight after having a night off and the Jazz playing a much harder game then they should have.

I like the play. Jazz are not the same team on the road and trailblazers are tough at home. I think the Jazz will be in no condition to keep up with the T-blazers tonight on the road. Normally T-Blazers are not a 6 point favorite over Jazz but the situation is perfect for a double digit win.

well after fading last night’s free play like i normally do (since they are 2-6 of L8)i actually think you got this one right jack! the blazers are playing good ball and the jazz just flat out dont give a damn when they arent in utah. as much as it hurts me to play the free pick i get the warm and fuzzy feeling here. blazers -5.5 is solid for tonight.

Not sure about this one so i would not as you did use it as a freebie..Its a few more points I care to give Utah though I lean toward yr pick if I had to pick this game which I would not as a frebie..

Tough stretch jack… Warned you about the under on your free play… Not feeling the -5.5 on portland tonight either.. Utah looks like the only real contender in the west outside of the lakers… Good luck jack… hopefully things turn around…

tough luck on the Jazz Under last night. Harrington lost his head with just 22 seconds left giving the Jazz 2 technical shots to make the over hit.

Speaking of the Jazz I think this is a tough spot playing last night then traveling to a different time zone to play a division rival. I like the Blazers -5 1/2
