Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/4

Written March 4, 2009 by Jack Jones

rocketsdunkWe hit the 20* yesterday, but lost all three NBA games to go 2-3 on the day.  Not the kind of performance we were hoping for, so time to bounce back strong on Wednesday.

For Wednesday I have FOUR total plays, including a 20* CBB No Doubt Rout that I think ends in a blowout.  Two additional college basketball 15* plays and an NBA 15* should have us sitting with a nice little profit at the end of the day.  22-10 with our last 32 basketball BEST BETS and 10-3 on our last 13 college basketball BEST BETS.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Make sure you check out the  March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA 15*!  I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in.  I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Picks for Wednesday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS.  I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.  Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Atlanta Hawks pk over New York Knicks at BetUS

The Knicks have lost three straight games and are coming off a tough loss on Saturday in which they were outscored 37-17 in the 4th quarter by the Miami Heat.  Atlanta is coming off a nice win in Washington Monday night for their fourth straight cover.  It’s tough taking a road team in the NBA when the Knicks have been a profitable 17-14 ATS at home and the Hawks are only 14-19 on the road, but the way New York has been playing lately I like Atlanta to win this one.

Houston Rockets +9 at Sports Interaction

The Jazz have won eight straight games and are looking like a solid playoff contender, especially with Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer back in the lineup, but they are laying too many points to the Rockets tonight.  Houston has won eight of the nine games they have played since Tracy McGrady went down to injury.  The Rockets have shot over 50.6% in their last two games, and the Jazz just allowed the Warriors to shoot 51% in their win on Sunday so I’m taking the points.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 43-28
NBA: 18-20
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I think you’re wrong about the Knicks at home; Atlanta is horrendous on the road.

Like your Rockets pick; they have been real scrappy since T Mac went on the shelf!

i like the rockets…but the knicks can surprise people…they win when you dont expect and lose when you dont expect…
what are your thoughts on miami canes tonight?

I agree with rockets pick taking the point however i would probably lay off the knicks game… they play way better at home and are hungry for a win against the hawks.

Not sure about the Hawks pick. Knicks play well at home, while the Hawks are horrible on the road.

I love the Houston pick….Utah has been hot lately, but so has Houston. +9 is way too many points to pass up with this solid team.

I like the Hoston pick, 9 points is to many to give to a quality team like Houston, with or without McGrady. Also, Houston has been playing very well without him. I am going with the Knicks on the other pick. NY has played well at home unless they go against the elite teams, and Atlanta is NOT one of the elite teams.

Hawks look good & made me a little Monday – Thanks for the pick. Nine seems like a lot to me. I’m going with you on both games. Just couldn’t lay the big number last night on LA but took you up on Weber state. thanks

The Knicks are Horrific right now– the only play is against them! Rockets on a momentum play- I see it but not as strong as Atlanta tonight.

I’m a little nervous about both of these picks. I like the Hawks in a close game over the Knicks (but probably not enough to actually put anything on the game), but Utah is playing too well right now for me to go against them.

Not sure about the NBA anymore, you never know who is going to show up from night to night. The Knicks score at home, alot that makes me nervous.

Atlanta is a tough pick on the road. These teams have split the series so far with each tema winnig on their home court. Atlanta wss favored both games and didn’t cover the spread. Have to wait this out to see if Atlanta ends up getting points on the road.

Really like the Houston pick. HOuston has won both games this season, even though they were at home, they were favored and covered the spread once. I believe this will be a close game and Jazz will win the game, but they will not cover the spread.

I love it when everybody doubts you and end up missing out on money or losing money going against your picks. Keep it going Jack.

Neither side sparks my interest in your two picks above. If I were to take a chance on either game, I’d take the Over (214) in the Knicks game, because the Hawks will gladly get up and down with the Knicks in the first half, leading to a comfortable Over even if defense is required in the fourth qtr. As fas as the Jazz/Rockets game goes, I can’t help thinking that this will look more like a playoff game, a slow half-court game with serious defense played by both teams. Utah will probably want to run from the get-go but the Rockets are good enough to slow the tempo down to their liking. Jazz Under (201.5) is the better play.

I agree with your houston pick, thats alot of lumber. The hawks I totally disagree with the Knicks are far from a happless Washington team, and also two games two days on the road forget it. Love the Knicks

Houston on a B-B against a hot rested Jazz team that needs some wins for their playoff run, plus are finally playing all players, think they roll here and Sloan wont call off the dogs as its not how he coaches,Utah-,but also going to wait as Im sure Houston becomes a public play getting those points.Look for line to drop.
Atl plays defense and NY doesnt, would like a couple points but dont see it,GL tonight.

Ill agree with u on the hawks but not sure about the rockets. the jazz wont be able to stop Yao but the rockets wont be able to stop D. Williams. The rockets played last night and with the high altitude in utah could run of of gas towrds the end. likely staying awy

I agree with both picks. I believe Atlanta is ready to go after getting out of their funk and will win easily. The Jazz have been playing well but I think this line is giving too many points to a good Rockets team.

I like your pick on the Rockets, they are playing well at home and should be a cloes one…i think the oddsmakers have overvalued a utah jazz team that everyone seems to be on the bandwagon now, too many points… i like houston tonite…on the other hand i like the knicks at home for one reason, atlanta is 2-4 SU & ATS in their last 6 road games and just won at washington on the road and i dont think they get a back to back win on the road tonight…i am taking New York

I agree with the Rockets plus 9. I think the odds makers
are giving the Jazz too much credit depite being at home.
Thasnks for Weber state last nite, I thought that might hasve been a trap line but it wasn’t as they rolled.
