Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 3/5

Written March 5, 2009 by Jack Jones

portlandAnother 20* wins yesterday as BYU squeaks one out for us.  Now 23-10 on our last 33 with basketball BEST BETS, and I’ve hit 6 out of my last 7 with college basketball BEST BETS.

We aren’t going to go away from the sport that keeps feeding us.  Thursday night you’ll find a 20* CBB No Doubt Rout on the premium side, along with our 15* sides of both NBA games (I’ve also included one as the free pick down below). Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the NCAA basketball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Make sure you check out the  March Madness Contest with Trev Rogers by heading to the service plays forum to see who is taking who. Also, for those of you interested in joining the play of the day contest, the lines are up and a few people have already locked in their picks there as well.

Free Premium Picks: Comment on my free pick article for today over at Betfirms.com. Tell me why you agree or disagree with today’s free pick and get tonight’s NBA 15*!  I’m going back to giving out the BEST BETS for now, because when I was doing that we were all cashing in.  I send the free premium picks out in one batch today around 5 PM EST, so if you post after they’ve been sent you’ll get tomorrow’s play.

Free Picks for Thursday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS.  I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.  Where do I find these lines? Check out our NBA odds and college basketball lines pages to see which sportsbook has the best number!

Portland Blazers +7 over Denver Nuggets at Bookmaker

I’m taking the points tonight with the Blazers, who are slightly behind the Nuggets in the Northwest Division standings.  This game will be an important showdown for the divisional race, but Denver also has to be thinking about a game with Utah coming up tomorrow night as well.  Denver has lost two in a row and five of their last seven and will be playing a Portland team that has won three in a row.  I also don’t like how Carmelo Anthony and George Karl disagree on whether a suspension was warranted (Melo had to sit out Tuesday night for d.  Portland is only 13-17 on the road this year, but the Nuggets are only winning by less than five ppg at home, and I think the Blazers are better than your average team.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 43-28
NBA: 19-21
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer.

I think the Nugs are gonna run away with this one. They are at home coming off of a tough loss to Detroit. They will be prepared for Portland as this is a tough division opponent. Portland is on the 2nd game of a back to back where they barely got by the Pacers at home. Nuggets win this in a rout.

These are the same picks as yesterday… Tough call on the Suns-Magic yesterday. Did not have good feeling for that game. Magic just too much for suns coming off back to back.

This one scares me a little because Denver should be better. They have been inconsistent at best. When in doubt take the points.Ill stick with Captain as he has been doing well picking underdogs to cover like Houston last night.

Nuggets seem to have issues, with Melo and Karl disagree on the warrant of a suspension. Melo msy try to due too much tonight.

Portland played last night sand had to use a lot of energy to comebakc from 14 down to start the final qtr. Denver is rested but not playing well. The Public seems to love the Nuggs. its the NBA and its not that ez.

going against the grain is the Blazers +7
