Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 5/7

Written May 7, 2009 by Jack Jones

pirates-cardinalsAnother 20* winner last night as the Dodgers cash in on the run line against the Nationals.  We go 2-1 on the day as the Lakers take care of the Rockets as well.  Tonight we go for four straight in the NBA playoffs with the winner of the Hawks/Cavs, plus we have a PAIR of early baseball winners, including our 20* BEST BET of the day.  Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the baseball picks & NBA picks being released by our other top handicappers.

Free Premium Picks: I’m going to take a little break from the comment for a free pick offer.  Instead I’m going to release one of my premium picks as the free pick over the next couple of days.  The comment offer will be back shortly!  You are still more than welcome to comment on today’s pick, I appreciate the feedback.

Free Pick for Thursday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.

You can find more great winners every day by visiting our sports betting forum.  Handicapper Steve Janus won the college football title here at the site, and he’s giving away all of his baseball plays for FREE in the forum.

15* Pittsburgh Pirates +182 over St. Louis Cardinals at Sportsbook

Too much value to pass up on Pittsburgh today as they shelled Todd Wellemeyer in their first game against him this season. He gave up five runs and 12 hits in five innings, which has set a pattern for poor pitching at Busch Stadium. Wellemeyer is 0-2 with a 8.40 ERA at home this season. Ross Ohlendorf on the other hand has been solid lately, allowing opponents to hit just .191 against him for a 2.70 ERA over his last three starts, all wins. I’ll take the large dog here today.

Free Pick Records:

CBB: 51-36
NBA: 26-37
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1
MLB: 14-11 (+135)

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer and stop by every day for more free baseball picks from top handicappers.

I like the pick……just hope CAPPS can close out the game. Last time I took the Pirates he blew the save.

You see the problem here is Pitt’s bull pen.
    I rather have Pitt’s Run Line + 1.5 (-125)
    In any case good luck

Well, this is why I stick to the NL West. I liked the Dbacks today with Haren pitching, but its a shame he doesn’t get enough run support yet again.. I’m blaming Petco Park for this one.

I look forward to hearing who you like in tomorrow’s NBA playoffs!
