Jack’s Free Sports Picks: 8/18

Written August 18, 2009 by Jack Jones

astros-marlins-predictions-08180920* MLB No Doubt rout goes tonight in bases along with a 15* selection as we continue to try to improve on a profitable season. Now on a 32-25 run for +803 units in baseball, including a 17-10 run on 20* Best Bets! Grab my package now at the Jack Jones home page or take a look at some of the baseball picks being released by our other top handicappers.

As of 7/31: I want to note that this is the time of the year when teams start calling up a lot of their young pitchers and position players. As a result, I am much more selective with my picks and will likely have fewer bets from here on out.

Free Premium Picks: I’m going to take a little break from the comment for a free pick offer. Instead I’m going to release one of my premium picks as the free pick over the next couple of days. The comment offer will be back shortly! You are still more than welcome to comment on today’s pick, I appreciate the feedback.

Free Pick for Tuesday

So I know I’ve had this disclaimer about the free picks being the weakest plays and that I don’t play them, but I really put 1% of my bankroll on these games in comparison to 3-4% on the regular and BEST BETS. I just don’t want people getting ridiculous on the free picks when they aren’t intended to be the highest percentage of winners that I offer.

15* on Houston Astros -105 at Sportsbook.com

I’m taking a small play on the Astros over the Marlins today with Florida starter Ricky Nolasco squaring off against Bud Norris for Houston.  Nolasco can be a very good pitcher, but he’s been terribly inconsistent this year, resulting in a 8-8 record and a 5.37 ERA.  With his last start, which also happened to be against Houston, he gave up 10 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings pitched.  Meanwhile, Bud Norris has looked sharp for the Astros, earning a win in each of his first 3 MLB starts this season and posting an ERA of 3.00 in those starts.

CBB: 51-36
NBA: 26-38
NHL: 4-0 (+665)
CFB: 3-1
NFL: 4-1
MLB: 41-45-1 (-973)

I also post my free picks on Twitter so if you follow me there it may be easier to get the picks if you are away from your computer and stop by every day for more free baseball picks from top handicappers.
