Packers Jaguars Football

Few would of thought that when the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars did battle in week 15 of this NFL season that both teams would be playing for pride and not a shot at the playoffs. Now the Packers are technically still alive, but the chances of them making are slim to none. Last week both teams added yet another loss to their season, as the Packers lost a heartbreaker at home to the Texans 21-24, while the Jaguars got beat up by the Bears 10-23 on the road for their 4th straight loss. For those of you looking to do some NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Packers 1.5 point favorites on the road over the Jaguars at BetUS.com

The Packers are on a losing streak of their own, as they lost their 3rd straight game last week, as the offense just didn’t get going till it was too late, as they scored just 7 points in the first 3 quarters of play. Aaron Rodgers wound up throwing for 295 yards and 2 scores, while Ryan Grant ran it for 104 yards and a score, and you have to think this team should be able to find a way to win football games with these kind of numbers. Now an interception by Rodgers didn’t help matters, but this team has to find a way to execute when it matters. Now the season is likely over regarding playing in the post season, but they need to use this time to continue their development and get ready for next year’s season.

The Packers defense didn’t necessarily play bad last week, but its hard to say a defense played good when the opposing team’s quarterback throws for over 400 yards, and they run for over 140 yards. Now all those yards turned into just 24 points as the Packers had an interception and two forced fumbles. This week they face a Jaguars offense that really hasn’t been able to do much of anything and you have to think this team wants to do whatever it can to start winning again. Its almost as if the Jaguars have given up on the season as they just don’t look like they are even trying at times. The offense took a slight hit when Fred Taylor went on IR for the remainder of the season, but when you look at his numbers, its not as though the team will be missing much. Last week Taylor had 53 yards on 13 carries, while Maurice Jones-Drew added another 55, but these are not the numbers the team expected coming into the season. David Garrard struggled throwing the football once again, as he completed just 19 of 38 passes for 178 with a touchdown and an interception. The offense better find a way to put some points on the board this week, cause the Packers have the ability to score in bunches.

Last week against the Bears the Jaguars defense let Kyle Orton throw for 219 yards and 2 scores, but really did a good job against the run allowing Matt Forte just 69 yards on 21 carries, and the defense really stepped up in the 2nd half, as they allowed the Bears just 3 points after giving up 20 first half points. Now the key this week will be if the Jaguars fall behind early will he defense be able to keep playing hard and do whatever it can to win the game. Now we think playing in front of the home crowd would help that cause but you never know. Bet Jacksonville Jaguars +1.5 at BetUS.com
