Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets NFL Odds & Spread
Written October 31, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This week in NFL week 9 action the New York Jets will take their show on the road as they get ready to take on the Buffalo Bills, in a very important AFC East battle.
The Bills currently hold the top spot alongside the Patriots, while the Jets sit a game behind. Last week the Bills failed to go to Miami and beat the Dolphins, while the Jets needed a last second touchdown to beat the Chiefs at home. The oddsmakers got the Bills 5 point favorites in this one over the Jets at Bookmaker.com
The Jets really confused a lot of people when they tried to beat the Chiefs with the pass, when the Chiefs have given up some of the biggest rushing totals to teams this season. The reason anyone is even questioning this move, is Favre threw 3 interceptions including one that went for a TD and nearly cost the Jets the game. Now this week they might have to rely on that pass even more, as the Bills are giving up just 93.8 yards a game on the ground this season. Favre leads the league in interceptions, and its hard to imagine they can keep winning if he keeps turning the ball over all the time.

The Jets defense can’t be impressed with the way they played last week at home, as they let a Chiefs offense move the football, and thats something the Chiefs aren’t use to doing, as they are near the bottom in points scored this season. Tyler Thigpen carved up the Jets secondary throwing for 280 yards and 2 scores, but were pretty respectable against the run. The Bills offense can run and pass, making this one a tough task for the Jets defense. Bet Jets +5 at Bookmaker.com
The Bills have yet to lose at home this season, and its sometimes hard figuring out this team. Last week Marshawn Lynch ran the ball just 13 times, and it wasn’t like he was having success as he ran for 61 yards and a score. With Lynch’s talent we wonder why he isn’t touching the ball at least 20 times a game. The Bills don’t think so, as he has only had more than 20 carries once this season, and thats probably why he has failed to gain over a 100 yards in a game this season. Trent Edwards continues to throw the football well, as he is completing nearly 68% of his passes, but he hasn’t had that breakout game yet this season, as he hasn’t thrown more than 1 touchdown in a game all season.
The Bills defense also seems to have its good and bad days, as they have shut down teams this season, and like last week have looked like they are just an average defense. The Bills shutdown the Dolphins running game, but had no answer for Chad Pennington and the passing game, as he threw for over 300 yards on this defense. Now the Bills defense has played much better at home this season, but their has to be some concern with Brett Favre coming to town. Bet Bills -5 at Bookmaker.com
