Jets vs. Seahawks Spread
Written by Jason Lowry

With the NFL regular season just two weeks from the playoffs Brett Favre has the New York Jets right in the thick of the AFC East title and the AFC Wild Card spot. This week the Jets have to head to Seattle and take on Seahawks team that has won just 3 games, but the Jets have been known to slip up on the road this season, especially on the west coast. Last week the Jets snapped a 2 game losing streak as they handed division rival Buffalo a 31-27 win, while the Seahawks took care of business for the 2nd time this season against the Rams, this time winning 23-20. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting on the game this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Jets 4.5 point favorites over the Seahawks at Sportsbook.com
3 of the 5 Jets losses have came on the road against teams that play on the west coast, so this is definitely a scary game if you are a Jets fan. Last week the Jets started strong cruising to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter, but things started to tighten up after the Bills scored 14 unanswered to take the lead. The Jets got another big game out of their running backs, as Thomas Jones ran it 20 times for 78 yards and a score, while Leon Washington exploded once again for a huge play, as he took his only carry 47 yards to the house. Brett Favre wasn’t on his game again last week, as he threw for just 207 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions, but its all about the win if you are a Jets fan. This week they need Favre and company to get it rolling early, as this team could really use an easy win this week.
Now the Jets offense gets most of the headlines with Favre under center, but the defense once again made the play to win the football game last week, as Shaun Ellis ran a fumble back 11 yards for the go ahead score with just 1:54 to go in the game. The Jets defense also added 3 sacks and 3 interceptions in this one, as they made life hard on Bills quarterback JP Losman. This week the Jets face a Seahawks offense that is starting to play a little better over the last couple weeks, but you have to like this unit to step up big and possibly carry this team to a victory.
The Seahawks snapped a 6 game losing streak last week, as two of their 3 wins this season have came again the Rams. The Seahawks fell behind early in this one, but found a way to bounce back for the win, as veteran Olindo Mare hit a 27 yard field goal with no time left on the clock. The only offensive touchdown came from TJ Ducket on a yard run in the 4th, but the team did get a good game out of Maurice Morris, who ran it 15 times for 86 yards. Seneca Wallace had a solid day throwing the football, as he completed 15 of 25 passes for 226 yards. Now Wallace will have to bring his best to the field on Sunday, as the Jets will likely clog up the middle and give the Seahawks running game some problems.
The Seahawks defense was a big part of the win last week, as they allowed just 3 points the entire 2nd half after giving up 17 in the first two quarters of play. Jordan Babineaux helped out the offense early with a 24 yards fumble returned for a score, as the Seahawks wound up forcing two fumbles on the game. Now the defense gave up plenty of yards in this one, and the fact that the Rams had 130 yards rushing, doesn’t make things look so good when they try and slow down the Jets Thomas Jones this weekend, but if they can find a way to keep him in check and hope that Favre continues to turn it over, this team can win this game.
Got something to say?
