Could the New York Jets Steal Darren Sharper?
Written March 11, 2010 by Jason Lowry
The New Orleans Saints and safety Darren Sharper continue to struggle to find a happy medium on a new contract, and that has me thinking that maybe Sharper won’t be back in New Orleans in 2010. Of the teams that could be interested in Sharper, Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune is speculating that the New York Jets could be a fit for Sharper, who has expressed his interest in playing for head coach Rex Ryan.
There really hasn’t been a lot of talk on the Jets side about being interested in Sharper, but they did just lose their starting safety Kerry Rhodes. The move would make anyone who has the Jets on their schedule sick, as the Jets defense is already arguably the best in the league.
Without question I believe that the addition of Sharper could be just what this team needs to get by the top quarterback in the AFC. Sharper is a turnover machine, and just ask Peyton Manning how much fun it is going up against a secondary headed by this guy, not to mention the Jets have two outstanding corners as well. The Jets currently have NFL odds of +2000 to win the Super Bowl in 2010, and I think the addition of Sharper would put them closer to +1000.
