Kansas at Texas Tech

The No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks look to remain unbeaten on the road this season when they travel to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders Tuesday. Kansas is a perfect 5-0 on the road this season while Texas Tech is 10-4 at home. Head coach Bill Self called this week “the biggest week of the year” as the Jayhawks will play this game, then at Nebraska followed by a home game Monday with No. 14 Missouri in the span of seven days. First things first as the Jayhawks must take care of the Red Raiders. Odds makers see a blowout in sight, listing the spread of Kansas -13.5 over Texas Tech with a total set of 155 points.

Kansas (20-1, 5-1) has been carrying around heavy hearts in support of teammate Thomas Robinson. He lost his maternal grandparents within a span of two weeks, and his mother Lisa Robinson passed away on January 21 due to an apparent heart attack. Coaches and players boarded a plane for Washington D.C. and joined the sophomore for her funeral on Thursday. Robinson was a big reason why the Jayhawks were able to get a huge win over in-state rival Kansas State Saturday night. He scored 17 points to go along with 9 rebounds to lead Kansas to a 90-66 victory at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks have won six straight Big 12 titles but are looking up at Texas in the standings after a 74-63 loss to the Longhorns. Surprisingly, Kansas has not won at Texas Tech since 2003. Bill Self has lost all 3 of the games he has coached down in Lubbock since joining the program. The Jayhawks, however, beat the Red Raiders twice last season with once at home and once in the Big 12 Tournament by a combined 38 points. Kansas won at home 89-63 behind 20 points from Marcus Morris and also proved victorious by a final of 80-68 in the tournament.  Morris leads the team in scoring (16.7) and rebounding (8.7) this season.

Texas Tech (11-11-3-4) has won three straight games for just the second time all season. They have not won four straight since starting 9-0 last season under head coach Pat Knight. The Red Raiders beat Oklahoma State 75-74 in overtime Saturday behind 25 points from Mike Singletary and a clutch 3-pointer from John Roberson with 53 seconds left in the extra period. Singletary leads the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game, and he poured in a season-best 33 in a 92-83 win at Iowa State on Wednesday. Kansas leads the all-time series at 19-4 and will be seeking a 7-game road winning streak overall, which would be their longest since an 11-game run in 2007.

Projected Score at Sports Interaction: Kansas 84 – Texas Tech 71
