Kentucky Derby Betting Props
Just like many other big sporting events betters can make proposition bets on the Kentucky Derby. While almost all of your bets are going to be of a normal or exotic bet like a trifecta. We figured we would take some time thanks to Bodoglife.com and look at some of this year’s prop bets. In betting props there are plenty of chances to win big, but we don’t think it’s the best of ideas to go blowing a bunch of money here. For prop better its always fun to put a couple small bets on something that is pretty much 50/50 to win or lose. Here is a look at some prop bets that we think are fun and interesting at the 2008 Kentucky Derby.A good 50/50 bet is what will the winning saddlecloth number of the Kentucky Derby be? You get the exact same odds for picking odd or even. So take the side of whichever your pick to win the race is, and incase your horse doesn’t win you can still win here.

Bet on the Derby Using Your Checking Account!
Another one just like this is picking the winner of the Kentucky Derby’s starting gate. Here you have to pick between 4 different choices, we again suggest using the same strategy as before.
There are many other fun prop bets suck as making a bet on whether the horse that wins will win the Preakness or the Belmont Stakes, or place a bet on a horse winning all three and taking home the Triple Crown. Here is where we don’t mind wasting a dollar or two on a bet like this. While its not likely to happen there is an outside shot at it coming through. If you were to place just $1 on this bet you could walk away with $475, it’s no worse than spending $1 on a scratch ticket.
You can also place a bet on if the crowd will be over or under a certain number, if the Mutual win pay will be over or under $18.50, or if any horse will be able to beat the time of 2:02.17 set by Street Sense last year at the Kentucky Derby. We like the pick of the crowd being under the 156,635, not to take anything away from the race, it just doesn’t’ t have the big time horse racing in it that everyone wants to see. Another one we like is taking the bet that a horse will race faster than that of Street Sense. We really think that the horses this year aren’t getting the credit they deserve, and it will show with a good finish time put up by this year’s winner.
A fun prop bet that we thought might be of interest to some of you out there is a prop bet on whether or not George Steinbrenner will be at the Derby and Shown on NBC. While the odds heavily favored for No, we don’t think he will end up making an appearance so don’t go wasting your money on this one. Another fun prop bet that gives you a 50/50 chance of winning is making a bet on if the performance of “My Old Kentucky home” and whether it will be over or under 3 minutes long. Your guess is as good as mine on this one.
One last bet we want to talk to you about is some head to head matches that are provided for your liking. This mainly puts many of the favorites with almost every horse, and also lets you take your pick on two favorites. This can be a good way to make some money if you know a lot about each horse, but this isn’t bad place to make some small bets. Say you like Pyro to win then you can make a series of small bets on Pyro to beat other horses. This can be a big winner if you are sure of underdog to do well. Also with this bet you increase your chances of winning greatly, as you only have to beat one horse instead of the whole field.
We strongly suggest heading to Bodoglife.com now and pick out some prop bets that you like for the 2008 Kentucky Derby. It’s a good way to make sure you don’t go home a complete loser, and if you are able to pick the lucky winner you can add to your total with some good better here.
