The EliteXC’s main event on February 16th will see street fight legend Kimbo Slice vs. hard-hitting Tank Abbott. The fight will take place at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center. This fight was set to take place last October at a Cage Fury Fighting Championships event. The fight was unfortunately due to an investor deciding to back out. Both fighters are reformed street fighters who are now fighting mixed martial arts, though Abbott has been fighting MMA for a much longer time. Both fighters are known for their ability to send their opponent staggering to the ground. Making this a great fight for the fans, as they love to see someone get demolished. Lets take a look at each fighter, and we will also give our prediction on who we think will win.

Kimbo Slice

Kimbo Slice’s real name is Kevin Ferguson. He is an animal at 6’2 265lbs. Kimbo is an absolute fan favorite for his street fighting videos on you tube, where other fighters didn’t seem to have any chance. Fans loved the way that he made people’s faces look like they had just been beat by a gang of people. He is fairly new to the mixed martial arts fighting style. At the age 33 Slice signed a multi-year contract with the Elite XC. In his debut he destroyed Bo Cantrell in 19 seconds vie punch out. Though Cantrell wasn’t the toughest opponent, it was a good learning block for Slice. He has been training with Bas Rutten on his new techniques.

Tank Abbott

Tank’s real name is David Lee Abbott. Abbott is currently 42 years of age and is clearly past his prime. At 6’0 265lbs, Abbott still believes that he can make this a good fight. His record might say otherwise as he is only 1 – 7 since 1998. With an overall record now of 9 – 13, Abbott has a lot to prove if he wants to still be considered as a good fighter. In his prime Abbott was a furious fighter, with a badass mentality. He had the ability to use his powerful haymakers to send his opponent flying to the floor. In 2005 Abbott showed that he still has a little bit left in the tank as he sent Wesley Correira to the ground by knockout in the first round.

Our Pick: Kimbo Slice -360 at Sportsbook.com

We are going to take the big time favorite in this one. This would be a much closer fight, if Slice were fighting a younger Abbott. Abbott continues to keep coming back and really looks worse each time. The only way for Abbott to have a chance is if Slice allows him to land a punch early. If slice chooses to play it really safe, he has the ability to submit Abbott if the fight goes to the ground. Either way, we see this fighting not lasting past the first round. Both boxers are not made for a long drawn out fight, Slice in better shape should be able to win easily.
