Lenox Industrial Tools 301
Written June 24, 2008 by Jason Lowry
NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers are heading to Loudon, New Hampshire for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. The race is set to take place at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and this year will mark the first time that the race goes 301 laps instead of 300. The reason for this is that Lenox wants to imply the fact that they go the extra mile, and its already been called “The Extra Mile, at the Magic Mile.” Last year Denny Hamlin was the first across the finish and it was his first win in the car of tomorrow. Last week Kyle Busch added to his already great season by taking home the Toyota/Save Mart 350 for yet another win this season. With the race set to get underway on Sunday June 29th, Jason Lowry is ready to take a closer look at some of the favorites he thinks has a good chance of winning this weekend.
Kyle Busch – 5/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Busch has been the best driver out there this season, and he added even a bigger lead in the point standings over . Things might not change this weekend, as Busch has had pretty good success so far in his career at Loudon. In 6 starts he has 3 top 5 finishes, including a win here back in 2006.
Carl Edwards – 7/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Edwards is currently 4th in the point standings and has really faired well as of late with 5 straight top 10 finishes including a 2nd place finish at the Best Buy 400.
Edwards has 3 wins on the season, and he is heading to a track he hasn’t won on but has done pretty well including a 2nd place finish in 2006 and a 13th place finish a season ago.
Jimmie Johnson – 7/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Johnson has climbed all the way to 5th in the point standings after a pretty slow start to the season. He still sits on just 1 win this year, but has raced much better as of late. His 15th place finish last week didn’t help him, but he had finish in the top 7 4 out of the 5 previous races. Johnson knows what it takes to win here, as he did so back in 2003.
Denny Hamlin – 7/1 odds at Sportsbook.com
Hamlin is your defending champion and the guy many think has a great shot at taking over the race this weekend. Hamlin has had success on this track before as he finished 6th two years ago. He is currently sitting in 8th place in the point standings and a win here could really help secure him a spot in the final 12 at the end of the season.
