Lions 2010-11 Season Opponents

Written January 23, 2010 by Jason Lowry

After failing to win a game during the 2008 NFL season, the Detroit Lions responded with 2 wins in the 2009 season. While not a good year by any standards, it was an improvement for a franchise that has been at the bottom of the NFL for some time now. Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford looked good when he played, but spent a lot of the season on the sidelines with injury problems. Either way the attention now shifts to the 2010 season, and here is a look at who the Lions will play at home and on the road.

The Lions will have home games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, St Louis Rams, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and the three other teams out of the NFC North. Not a real easy schedule by any means, and the game against the Rams could end up determining who gets the No.1 pick in the 2011 draft.

On top of the three division games on the road, the Lions will travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins. Maybe not as hard as their home schedule when you look at who they play, but the Lions haven’t won a road game since beating the Chicago Bears on October 28th of 2007.

The Lions have a lot of work to do befoer this team is a threat for the postseason, and they can take a big step by landing a stud with their No.2 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Whatever the Lions do, it will have a big impact on their 2010 NFL odds.
