Louisville at Memphis Football Betting Odds & Picks

Louisville goes on the road to play the Memphis Tigers this week. Louisville has looked a lot better after their terrible opening season loss to a very good Kentucky team. Memphis has won three straight games, but their opponents records are a combined 6-10 and one these wins came against a non division one school. The early line at Sportsbook.com shows Louisville as a 7-point favorite over Memphis.
Louisville’s offense seems to be back on track after a sloppy start to the 2008 season. In Louisville’s last three games quarterback, Hunter Cantwell, has thrown five touchdown passes and looks to have found the form that people expected from him this season. The key to the Cardinals’ offense this year has been the running game. Running back Victor Anderson has three straight games with over 100 yards, including a 176 yard outburst against Kansas State, and has scored five touchdowns over that span.

Look for Louisville to expose Memphis’s weak rush defense. Memphis is giving up 170 yards on the ground per game and twice have allowed over 200. Look for Anderson to get the call early and often.
Louisville defense has been solid this season. The face a Memphis offense that is still unproven and inconsistent. Quarterback Areklon Hall is only completing 58% of his passes and has tossed five interceptions. He has thrown eight touchdowns, but four of these came in one big game. Look for Louisville’s defense to take advantage of the unproven Hall.
Memphis will also have a tough time running the football. Louisville is giving up just 70.8 rushing yards per game. On top of that they are allowing just a total of 252 each game and have force nine turnovers. Look for them to keep Memphis out of the end zone to cover this spread.
