The rebuilding process in Baton Rouge has been a slow go, as the Tigers only improved their SEC record by one win from the previous year. LSU started 6-2 but lost its last seven home SEC game en route to a 1-15 finish. However, the group was fairly young, with most of the scoring a rebounding expected to return.

2011-12 Preview

The top four scorers and two top rebounders return to the program this year, and six of the nine regular-rotation players will be back on the court this year, which should bode well for LSU fans hoping to see an improvement this year to better competitiveness.

Backcourt

Sophomore Ralston Turner was the leading scorer on last year’s squad, posting 12.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Andre Stringer was another standout freshman, leading the team in assists (85), 3-pointers made (57) and attempted (193) and ranked second in scoring (11.2 ppg) and steals (34).

Senior Chris Bass averaged 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 16 minutes per game off the bench as a junior, but was second in assists (78).

Frontcourt

Senior Storm Warren was the team’s leader in rebounding (5.7 pg), steals (38) and field-goal percentage (49 percent) while listing second in blocks (34) and third in scoring (7.7 ppg).

Senior Malcolm White was No. 2 in rebounding (5.1 pg), tops in blocks (36) and fourth in scoring (7.6 ppg).

Junior Eddie Ludwig averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15 minutes per game, starting six times.

Sophomore Jalen Courtney tallied 16 points and eight rebounds in 72 minutes of play over 15 games.

Junior Justin Hamilton is new to the program, but is a 7-gooter who transferred from Iowa State. He should be an inside presence for the Tigers.
