LSU vs. Auburn Predictions
Written September 15, 2008 by Jason Lowry
Saturday Sept. 20th, two of the countries best square off when the #6 LSU Tigers takes on the #9 Auburn Tigers, in what should be classic SEC football. Last week LSU turned in a solid performance handing North Texas a beating 41-1, while Auburn played in one of the more unusual scores you will see, as they took home a 3-2 win over Mississippi State. Both teams come in undefeated and in the SEC a win against any division opponent are never easy to come by.

Auburn +3
The LSU offense scored early and often, including their first play from scrimmage, as running back Charles Scott took it 39 yards to the house. That wasn’t it for Scott who ran for 102 yards on just 7 carries and another score early in the 2nd quarter. Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee split the duty at quarterback, and both struggled had their struggles throwing for zero touchdowns, and Hatch tossed one to the other team. The Auburn defense is great against the run, and it could be up to one of these quarterbacks to get it going this weekend.
The LSU defense is pretty damn good itself, and they were all over North Texas last weekend, allowing just 44 yards on the ground and 155 in the air. Quarterback Giovanni Vizza had to throw it 40 times for just 149 yards, barely completing 50% of his passes. The only turnover this unit created came from safety Curtis Taylor. There is no doubt points will likely be hard to come by, and its going to be a matter of which defense steps it up more. Bet LSU -3 at JustBet.com
The Auburn Tigers offense didn’t do much last week, as they needed just 3 points to win, and its not likely that total will win them to many more football games. Quarterback Chris Todd was alright throwing for 154 yards, but his 5.9 average has to be of some concern. Ben Tate did his part running for 92 yards on 20 carries, and its likely he is going to have to be solid against the LSU defense, if Auburn wants to win this one. Auburn’s leading receiver was Montez Billings, and they could use his big play ability this weekend.
After the performance the Auburn’s defense put up last week, there is no question that the strength of this football team lies on this side of the ball. Playing against LSU this week is not going to be an easy task, but they are likely going to have to keep the Tigers under 20 points or it just might be too much for the offense to keep up with. One way they can do that is to win the turnover battle, like they did last week when they racked up 3 of them against the Bulldogs. Bet Auburn +3 at Justbet.com

LSU 13
Auburn 10
