Magic Cavs Betting

Written May 28, 2009 by Jack Jones

cavs-magic-game-5-bettingThe Eastern Conference Finals picks back up Thursday night when the Orlando Magic square off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 and JustBet Sportsbook has your hot NBA playoff picks right here. The Magic took a commanding 3-1 series lead in Game 4 after defeating the Cavaliers 116-114 in OT. The ‘oddsmakers’ aren’t quite as high on the Cavs as they were in Games 1 and 2 as they are now just 7.5-point favorites with the ‘total’ set at 190.5, the highest target in this series.

The Magic battled Cleveland superstar F LeBron James and the biased officials in Game 4 to grab a series lead that only eight teams have ever recovered to advance from in NBA history. Orlando used a steady diet of Dwight Howard to go along with solid three-point marksmanship going 17-of-38 as a team from behind the arc on Tuesday. Howard scored 27 points (10 in OT) adding 14 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks to lead Orlando to the home win and cover. “Superman” had his way with the Cleveland bigs and started the OT period with three straight dunks plus he finished the game 10-of-16 (62.5%) from the free throw line. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in this series and if not for Lebron’s miraculous shot in Game 2, this series would have concluded Tuesday night. Since beginning the 2009 NBA Playoffs 0-4 ATS, Orlando has bounced back going 10-3 ATS and has covered its L/6 contests overall.  Get a hefty 35% free play bonus on your initial deposit to JustBet!

The Cavaliers remind me of the Titanic “The unbreakable ship” that is going down and will be in the bottom of the ocean by the end of the night. LeBron has done all he can to help this team win, but when your entire bench is outscored 17-14 by one Magic reserve (F Mickael Pietrus) that’s not a good sign. “King Nothing err… James” has averaged 42.2 PPG (169 points) in this series which is just a tad under 42% of the Cavs entire offensive output. The Cavs haven’t covered a spread all season long against the Magic going 0-7 ATS. That mark includes three regular season match-ups. It almost seems irrelevant to mention that Cleveland is 32-15-0 ATS on its home floor because its 0-2 ATS at home in this series.

The Magic smell blood in the water and will give this game everything they have even if they fall behind early as they did in the first two games played inside “The Q”. These wide spreads are just another slap in the face to a team that already feels disrespected by every “Kobe vs. LeBron” Nike commercial on TV. Look for the Magic to be within striking distance in the late stages of the 4th quarter with only Lebron’s late game heroics allowing the Cavs to force a possible Game 6 in Orlando.  The recommended play by the JustBet Insiders is to take the Magic +7.5.
