Michigan State and Northwestern square off in an important game in Big Ten play. After an opening season loss against a very good Cal team, Michigan State has rebounded to win five straight. Northwestern is 5-0, but do not be fooled by this record. Their best win came against a below average Iowa team. Northwestern has won ugly against bad teams, and lack the playmakers and speed to compete with Michigan State. Michigan State’s offense is led by running back Javon Ringer. Ringer is one of the nation’s top running back. He has rushed for 988 yards and 12 touchdowns in just six games. Look for Michigan State to run early and often all over this slow Northwestern defense, who has given up over 120 yards rushing in three games this season. Ringer will have another huge day.

Northwestern has been very average on offense this season. They have no big time play makers and quarterback C.J. Bacher is only completing 59% of his passes and has thrown six interceptions.
