One of the better games this weekend just might take place when Ole Miss heads to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to take on the Demon Deacons. The early odds from Bookmaker have Wake Forest as an 8-point favorite on the spread with a total set at 47.

Wake Forest comes into their home opener ranked 20th in the nation after posting a solid 41-13 win on the road over Baylor a week ago. The Deacons will look to continue their string of excellence in front of the home crowd, where they have won five straight games.

Mississippi started the year out in exciting fashion as well, winning 41-24 over Memphis. The offensive outpouring marked the first time the team had scored more than 40 points in nearly 5 years. That helped generate even more excitement for Rebel fans as the Houston Nutt era kicked off in such a great way.

Ole Miss was an efficient offensive machine in the game against Memphis. The team ran for 216 yards while throwing for 222. More good news, they didn’t turn the ball over nor did they allow their quarterback to be sacked a single time. Texas-transfer Jevan Snead made his debut at quarterback, and held his own with 185 yards and two passing touchdowns, but he did complete only 10 of his 22 passes. Shay Hodge led the way receiving with both of the touchdown grabs and 79 yards. The rushing attack proved balanced between Brandon Bolden and Dexter McCluster. The two combined for 140 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 attempts. McCluster even caught four passes for 61 yards.

The Rebel defense though will need to improve if they are going to continue winning games as they gave up 453 yards of total offense, 265 against the pass and 188 against the run. The positive note is that Ole Miss was able to pick off two Tiger passes. Bet on the Ole Miss +8 spread at Bookmaker and get a 20% signup bonus on your initial deposit.

The Wake Forest offense played pretty well themselves last week, scoring on their first three possessions on their way to 41 points. The Deacons managed 156 yards rushing and 220 yards passing for a balanced attack. Riley Skinner was his usual, accurate self. He was 27-for-36 and had a career-high three touchdown passes. The win gave Skinner the school record with 19 in his career under center. Ben Wooster and DJ Boldin posted some solid receiver numbers with Wooster pulling in six passes for 90 yards and a score, while Boldin added seven catches and 33 yards. Josh Adams had a disappointing start to his sophomore season with only 37 yards on 14 attempts, but he did get into the endzone once.

The Deacon defense did a good job of limiting the Bears to only 94 rushing yards and 156 through the air. The real story of how effective they were however is the five turnovers and two sacks. Bet on the Wake Forest -8 line at Bookmaker and get a 20% signup bonus on your initial deposit.

Predicted Score: Wake Forest 28, Ole Miss 20
