Missouri at Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks are set to host the Missouri Tigers on Monday in a Top 25 Big 12 showdown. The second-ranked Jayhawks may be without star freshman guard Josh Selby for this contest. He has a stress reaction in his right foot that kept him out of their game at Nebraska over the weekend. The No. 14 Tigers are looking for a signature road win, something that has avoided them all season. The line for this contest show us odds of Kansas -10.5 over Missouri with a total set of 154.5 points.

Kansas (21-1, 7-1) played just fine without Selby on Saturday. The Jayhawks beat the Cornhuskers 86-66, giving Nebraska their first home loss of the season. They had started 14-0 before that setback. Brady Morningstar picks up the slack in Selby’s place, scoring 19 points and dishing out six assists. Still, the Jayhawks are going to need Selby down the stretch and head coach Bill Self would rather have him miss a couple games then a couple months. That’s why he is likely going to sit out a second straight contest tonight.

Missouri (18-5, 4-4) is coming off a blowout win as well. The Tigers dominated Colorado 89-73 while forcing 23 turnovers. The victory improved Missouri to 14-0 at home this season, but they are just 1-4 in true road games this year. Winning at Allen Fieldhouse has been even more difficult. The Tigers have lost 11 straight to Kansas on the road in this series. Missouri is 14-40 all-time at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks have the Morris twins who have been simply sensational all season. Marcus Morris leads the team in points per game (16.7), while Markieff Morris is second in scoring (12.1) and leads the team in rebounds (8.5) and blocks (1.0). If Selby cannot go, he will obviously be miss as he is the team’s third-leading scorer (12.0). The Morris Twins are a big reason why Kansas leads the nation in field goal percentage at 52 percent.

Guard Marcus Denmon leads Missouri in scoring (16.7) and steals (2.1) per game this season. He has scored double-digit points in 19 of his last 20 games and has been a consistent force all season. This is a very balanced Missouri team with five players scoring in double figures this season. They play a pressing style and go ten players deep in most games. The Tigers have ten players averaging at least ten minutes per game. Missouri is putting up a whopping 83.3 points per game this season.

Projected Score at BetOnline: Kansas 83 – Missouri 72
