The Detroit Pistons, with a huge lead in the Central Division, have been impressive winning 81.7% of their games SU this season. This team has not been in a losing streak of more than two games this season. This speaks volumes for any team in the NBA. However, the Pistons have won only 50.8% of their games ATS with a push a one game that is not included. Since February 1 the Pistons have won 70.5% of their games SU. And they have won only 41.2% of their game ATS during that time. Against losing teams since February 1 the Pistons were 5-1 SU. And they won only 42.9% of those games ATS against losing teams. So, even the best team in the NBA is sub-par ATS.
The San Antonio Spurs, battling for the top spot in the Southwest Division, are tied with the second best record SU in the NBA this season. The Spurs have won 78.7% of their games SU and that is solid. This team had a two game losing streak only once this season. Other than that the extend of their losing streak was one game. That is impressive in any league. However, the Spurs have won only 54-2% of their games ATS this season with a push in two games that are not included. So, another very good team is sub-par ATS. What does that tell you? The ATS numbers are close in these games.
The Dallas Mavericks are in a close race for the top spot in the Southwest Division. The Mavericks are tied with the second best record SU in the NBA this season. The Mavericks have won 78.7% of their games SU and that is impressive. This team has been in a two game losing streak and several one game losing streaks. That is playing some solid basketball in the NBA. However, the Mavericks have won only 50% of their games ATS with a push in three games that are not included. So, another good team doesn’t post impressive numbers ATS.
The top three teams in the NBA have won 79.7% of their games SU combined this season. However, this seasons they have won only 51.7% of their games ATS combined. When looking at a team don’t always put more interest on the top teams. When considering the top teams look at how they have done ATS lately. The top teams will have their winning and losing streaks ATS.
