NBA Picks 1/23/08
Written January 23, 2008 by Jack Jones
Last night was a tough loss as the Bucks were hanging in there with the Suns for most of the game, but got blown out in the 4th quarter to cost us a half point loss. It’s time for a little revenge with two games that I’m really liking tonight. I’ll be back with NCAA basketball plays for today later on this afternoon.

Indiana Pacers +3.5
Indiana is a high scoring team and the Bulls have had a tough time this year with offensive minded squads. The Pacers are putting up nearly 104 ppg this year and over 110 ppg over their last five. The Bulls are just 5-13 ATS against a team that scores more than 100 ppg this year, and the Bulls are also 1-9 ATS when both teams score more than 98 points in the game. The way the Indiana offense has been gelling this game should get past the century mark, and when the score gets that high Chicago just doesn’t have enough offensive power to keep up.
LA Lakers +6
The Lakers just might be the hottest team in the league now, winning 12 of their last 14 games. Those two losses were against Boston and Phoenix, who just happen to be the two best teams in the league. There is no doubt in my mind that the line is so high on this game due to the loss of Andrew Bynum, but the Lakers have been working together in the absence of their big man to still pull out some wins. Sure, they aren’t covering which means they probably aren’t playing up to expectations, but the Spurs have lost two out of three and have failed to cover in 8 of their last 10 games. If it was all-Kobe again this year, then Bruce Bowen would shut him down and give the Lakers problems. With the team effort coming out of LA these days, it’s going to be a tough matchup for the Spurs.
