NBA Picks: Charlotte Bobcats at Utah Jazz
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Utah Jazz will look to snap out of their latest funk when the host the Charlotte Bobcats Monday night. Utah won 96-95 at Charlotte back on Nov. 13, but could be without Deron Williams for a third straight game tonight.
The Bobcats were about to win 121-113 in overtime at Golden State on Friday, but didn’t have much left in the tank for their game Saturday against the Clippers. Charlotte lost 103-88 at Los Angeles, but is still 5-2 in their last seven games.
While the Jazz were about to beat the Timberwolves at home without Williams on Friday, they didn’t look so good against he Warriors on Sunday, falling 96-81 at Golden State. Utah is just 1-7 in their last eight games.
Taking a look at the NBA odds for tonight’s game. oddsmakers have the Jazz favored by 3-points over the Bobcats with the total set at 190.

I wouldn’t look to much into the Bobcats loss at the Clippers on Saturday. It was the Bobcats fourth game in the last five days on the road. Charlotte shot just 40% in the loss to the Clippers and turned the ball over 17 times.
Stephen Jackson and Gerald Henderson each had 14 points, but D.J. Augustin was the only other player to score in double figures with 13 points. The previous night against the Warriors, Charlotte had five different players score in double figures, including 31 from Jackson and 27 from Augustin.
The Jazz have allowed 96 or more points in each of their last 14 games, so don’t be surprised if the Bobcats don’t rebound with a big night offensively. The key for Charlotte will be playing strong on the defensive end of the court, especially if Williams is able to play.
I think Williams is the key for the Jazz in this game, as I believe the desperately need him on the floor to win, even though they were able to beat Minnesota the other night. Utah shot just 37.2% from the field against the Warriors on Sunday, against a Warriors defense that is allowing 106.5 points a game this season.
Earl Watson filled in for Williams with eight points, five assists, and four rebounds, which is pretty good, but not anywhere near what Williams can bring to the table. The hope is that Williams will return to the lineup tonight, and if he does, I think we will see a completely different Utah team.
With that I really think you have to wait to see whether or not Williams is going to play before betting on this game. He is that valuable to the Jazz, and even if he does play, you have to worry about how healthy his wrist is. If I had to pick one side right now, I would take Charlotte +3.
