NBA Picks: Denver Nuggets at Golden State Warriors

Written by -

The Golden State Warriors are set to host the Denver Nuggets Wednesday night at Oracle Arena . Denver already beat the Warrior on the road this season, winning 106-89 back on Nov.22.

Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s games. oddsmakers have the Warriors favored by 2-points with the total set at 220.

Denver is once again having to deal with trade rumors surrounding Carmelo Anthony, who has most recently been rumored to be going to either the Knicks or Lakers. Denver dropped their last game 108-103 at home against the Rockets, despite 50 points from Anthony.

This could be a prime time for the Warriors to not only get revenge from an earlier loss this season, but to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Nuggets. Golden State comes in off a 104-92 loss to Phoenix  on Monday, but had won their previous three games.

Anthony has really shined of late for Denver, and it appears as if he is almost auditioning for teams. Anthony failed to record a single assist in his 50-point effort against the Rockets, and the Nuggets as a team finished with just 14 on the night.

Ty Lawson came off the bench to score 19 points in 34 minutes, as he had to take on a bigger role after Chauncey Billups failed to make it out of the first quarter. Billups strained his knee, and it’s unclear whether he will be able to go tonight. Denver may also be without Nene, who missed the last game with a sinus infection.

Still the big concern for Golden State will be finding a way to slow down Anthony, who is averaging 32.6 over his last five games.  Anthony had 39 points against the Warriors earlier this season.

Golden State struggled to slow down the Suns three-point shooting in their last game. Phoenix went 13-30 from long distance, compared to the Warriors who went just 2-18 from downtown.

The Warriors were led offensively by Monta Ellis, who had 21 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. David Lee added 16 and 10 rebounds and Stephen Curry put in 15 points with eight assists. Reggie Williams provided a big spark off the bench with 19 points on 8-10 shooting, but it simply wasn’t enough to get the job done.

With all the distractions surrounding Denver and where Anthony is going to be playing, I think you have to take the Warriors to not only win this game, but cover the spread as well. Denver is just 9-15 on the road this season, and could be without two starters in Billups and Nene.
