NBA Picks: Detroit Pistons at Boston Celtics
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Boston Celtics are set to host the Detroit Pistons Wednesday night at TD Gardens Arena. Both teams will look to extend their three game winning streaks when the game gets underway at 7:30 ET.
The Pistons first two wins during their recent run came against the Raptors and Kings, not exactly prime competition, but Detroit did beat Dallas 103-89 on Monday, despite giving up 32 points to Dirk Nowitzki.
Boston is coming off a nice 109-106 win at home over the Orlando Magic. It was the Celtics first game with Kevin Garnett back in the lineup, and he looked like he hadn’t missed a beat.
Taking a look at the NBA spreads for this game, oddsmakers have the Celtics favored by 11.5-points over the Pistons with the total set at 192.5.

The Pistons have made a few lineup changes that seem to have them playing a little better together. Tracy McGrady an Greg Monroe entered into the starting lineup, while Ben Gordon has taken on the sixth man role.
Rodney Stuckey led the way with 20 points and six assists against the Mavericks. Tayshaun Prince added 19 points, Monroe scored 16 to go along with nine rebounds, and Charlie Villanueva and Gordon combined for 26 of the Pistons 32 points off the bench.
The Pistons have chosen not to play Richard Hamilton lately, and it appears that the team is more than likely trying to trade the veteran guard. Still Detroit will see just how well they are playing when they go up against a Celtics team that is 19-3 at home this season.
Garnett returned to the lineup and scored 19 points to go with eight rebounds in 31 minutes, and shot 7-13 from the field. You could just see the difference it makes for the Celtics when he is on the court, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Ray Allen scored a team-high 26 points on 8-11 shooting, Rajon Rondo had 10 points and 13 assists, Paul Pierce added 14, and Glen Davis came off the bench to score 15.
This is the third meeting between these two teams. The first two games were both played at Detroit. Boston won 109-86 back on Nov. 2, but Detroit answered with a 104-92 win on Dec. 29. Boston however lost Garnett in the first quarter and was already without Rondo.
I don’t think these two teams really like each other a whole lot, and I think that gives Boston the intensity and focus needed to put a team like Detroit away. I think you lay the points and take the Celtics.
