NBA Picks: Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bulls

Written by -

The Chicago Bulls will go for their seventh straight win at home when they host the Detroit Pistons at the United Center tonight. Chicago ended a two-game losing streak with an impressive 90-79 home win over the Celtics on Saturday. The Pistons snapped a three-game losing streak with a 112-109 overtime win over the 76ers. The Bulls have already beat Detroit twice this season, and with a win tonight they could make it 10 straight against the Pistons. Our NBA spreads for this game, have the Bulls favored by 10-points over the Pistons with the total sitting at 190.

Detroit lost 101-91 at Chicago way back on Oct.30, but nearly won at home against the Bulls, but couldn’t finish down the stretch and wound up losing 95-92 in overtime.

The Pistons have really struggled to get much of anything going this season. Detroit will try and tie a season-high with two straight wins for the third time this season. It won’t be easy for the Pistons, they have lost nine straight at the United Center, and are just 3-16 on the road this season.

Tayshaun Prince led Detroit with 23 points on 10-14 shooting, and Rodney Stuckey came alive with 20 points, after scoring just 3 total in his last two games. The Pistons also got a nice game from second year small forward Austin Daye and  rookie Greg Monroe. Daye tied a season-high with 15 points, while Monroe set his season-high with 16 points to go along with his 13 rebounds.

Detroit will likely continue to try and get their young players more playing time, which is great for the future, but it’s hard to imagine it resulting in many wins.

Chicago is 16-3 at home this season, and only the Celtics have a better home record in the Eastern Conference. Derrick Rose is coming off a 36 point effort against the Celtics, where he made 15-19 from the free throw line. Rose has tormented the Pistons this season. In the first meeting at Chicago he had 39 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, and then at Detroit he scored 23 with 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Carlos Boozer had 22 points and 10 rebounds against the Celtics, and he too had a big game against the Pistons, scoring 31 points and grabbing 11 rebounds at Detroit.

Chicago however had just 16 assists on the game, including only two from Rose, and while they got the win, you would like to see this team moving the ball better than that. Detroit could be just the solution, the Pistons are allowing just over 106 points over their last three games.

With the way Chicago has played at home, and the struggles the Pistons have had on the road, I think you have to take your chances at bet the Bulls -10 in this one.
