Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Atlanta Hawks will go for their ninth straight win at home when they host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday at Philips Arena. The Hawks come into the game off an impressive 95-80 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, and have now won three of their last four. The Warriors are also playing good basketball right now, as they beat the Philadelphia 76ers 110-95 on Monday for their third consecutive win. Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s game, the oddsmakers have the Hawks favored by 6.5-points over the Warriors at home.

The Warriors three game surge matches their longest winning streak since April of 2009. Getting their fourth consecutive win figures to be a bit of a challenge. Golden State is just 4-12 on the road this season, including a 2-10 run in their last 12 away from home.
The Warriors however seem to be clicking offensively right now. Monta Ellis had 22 points and 12 assists against the 76ers, and is averaging 33.4 points and 7.6 assists in his last five games. Ellis had scored at least 36 in each of the Warriors previous three games.
Ellis got plenty of help against the 76ers as Dorell Wright had 28 points, David Lee chipped in 21 and 16 rebounds, and Stephen Curry had 17 points and eight assists. Wright and Curry combined to go 9-13 from long distance, and the Warriors as a team hit 15-23 three-pointers.
The Hawks are finally back to full strength, and its starting to show on the scoreboard. Atlanta put up 95 points on 50.7% shooting against a Bucks defense that had allowed just 79 points their previous two games.
Al Horford led the way with 18 points and 12 rebounds, as five different players scored in double figures against Milwaukee. Joe Johnson added 15 points in his sixth game back after missing nine games with an elbow injury, and its only a matter of time before he is scoring 20 points a night again.
The key number in this game for both teams is 100 points. Golden State is averaging 102 points per game this season, but the Hawks are allowing just 93 points over their last six games. The Warriors are just 1-12 this season when they don’t reach 100 points. The Hawks only average 96 points , but the Warriors are giving up 106 a game, and Atlanta is 9-2 when they score over 100.
With the way Golden State has played on the road, and the success Atlanta has had at home this season, I think there is no question you have to take the Hawks in this one. The Warriors three game winning streak will give them some credit from the oddsmakers, but don’t be fooled, Atlanta is the easy play in this game.
