The Kings are hoping to get Tyreke Evans back from an ankle injury tonight. Evans has had to sit out the last three games, and there is no question they need him back. The Kings actually had something going before he got hurt, as they had won three of five. Evans is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 assists in January, and had 56 points and 20 assists in his last two games before being sidelined.
Beno Udrih has picked up the scoring with Evans out, averaging 22 points over the last three games. DeMarcus Cousins on the other hand has seen his number drop without Evans on the floor. Cousins was averaging 24 points in the last three games before Evans got hurt, and only 12 in the three games he was out.
Carl Landry led the Kings in their latest loss to the Celtics with 17 points in 22 minutes off the bench. The Kings as a team shot 51.4% but had just four plays score in double figures.
The Knicks are hoping that they can turn things around against the Kings at home, and with Amare Stoudemire now in the picture, you have to think the Knicks will end that streak tonight. New York won 113-106 at Sacramento back on Nov. 17, thanks to 27 points and 10 rebounds from Stoudemire.
New York got a couple of huge sparks off the bench against the Jazz. Shawne Williams scored 25 points and was 7-8 from three-point range. Bill Walker added 23 points in just 29 minutes. Williams and Walker combined to go 16 for 23 from the field.
Raymond Felton dropped 22 points and 11 assists, and Stoudemire scored 22 points, but played just 28 minutes due to foul trouble. The Knicks shot 50.6% as a team, but really struggled defensively, allowing the Jazz to shoot just over 58%.
The Knicks should have no trouble taking care of business against the Kings. Sacramento is just 2-13 on the road this season, and New York is going to want to make sure that the Kings don’t extend their streak on their home court.
