NBA Picks: San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Minnesota Timberwolves will try and avoid being swept by the San Antonio Spurs when the two teams face off at the Target Center Tuesday night. San Antonio has won the first three games of the series, but it hasn’t been easy. The Spurs have won by an average of just five points, and needed overtime the last time they came to Minnesota. These two teams just faced off in San Antonio on Sunday, with the Spurs barely holding on for a 94-91 win. Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s games, the oddsmakers have the Spurs favored by 6.5-points over the Timberwolves.

Minnesota blew big leads late in both of their first two games against the Spurs, but they nearly repaid the favor on Sunday. Minnesota trailed by seven going into the fourth quarter, and had two chances late to try and force overtime, but just couldn’t make the big shot when they needed to.
Kevin Love had 18 points and 17 rebounds in a losing effort, and Luke Ridnour added 16 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Minnesota however got just two points from Michael Beasley, who hurt his already sprained left ankle and was forced to leave in the second quarter. Beasley is listed as questionable for tonight’s game, and there is no question they want him on the floor, but they did play well without him.
Anthony Tolliver, Martell Webster, and Wesley Johnson all came off the bench to score nine points a piece, and if Beasley can’t go tonight, Minnesota is going to need another big night from these guys.
The Spurs got a big game out of Manu Ginobili, as he led the way with 21 points to go along with seven points and four steals. Richard Jefferson added 13 points, and Matt Bonner, George Hill, and Gary Neal combined to score 35 points off the bench.
Tim Duncan had just eight points on 4-10 shooting, and DeJuan Blair failed to score in 13 minutes of play. Blair wasn’t in foul trouble, and it just appeared that the coaching staff isn’t going to wait around for Blair to find his shot. Blair has just six points in the last three games combined, and is just 3-18 from the field during that stretch.
There is no question that the Spurs are the better team, but there is still some good value on the Timberwolves against the spread, as they haven’t lost by more than six points to the Spurs all season, but not having Beasley could be too much for this team to overcome.
