NBA Picks: Washington Wizards at Oklahoma City Thunder

Written by -

The Oklahoma City Thunder go for their sixth straight win at home tonight against the Washington Wizards, who have yet to win a road game all season. This is the first meeting between these two teams, but the Thunder have won three straight over Washington.

The Wizards bring a 0-21 mark on the road into play tonight, and lately it hasn’t been very pretty for the Wizards. Washington fell 120-109 at home to the Nuggets on Tuesday, and have lost four of their last five overall.

Oklahoma City was able to bounce back from a tough loss at New Orleans on Monday with a hard fought 118-117 overtime win over the Timberwolves.

Looking at the NBA spreads for tonight’s game, oddsmakers have the Thunder favored by 10.5-points over the Wizards with the total set at 210.

Things haven’t been going well at all for the Wizards on the road this season. Washington is allowing 108.7  while scoring just 94.6 a game on the road this season. The Wizards have lost their last seven road games by at least nine points.

Nick Young had 26 points, Andray Blatch added 25, and John Wall had 10 points and 13 assists in the Wizards loss to the Nuggets. The Wizards shot 51.2% from the field, but were just 2-13 from three-point range. At the same time the Wizards allowed Denver to shoot 50.6% from the field, and 12-23 from long distance.

Young and Wall have really been the two consistent players for Washington lately. Young is averaging 20 points over his last five, while Wall is averaging 17 points and nine assists during the same stretch.

The Thunder got another big game from their All-Star Kevin Durant, as he dropped 47 points on the Timberwolves, and now leads the league at 28.6 points per game. Durant also finished the game with a season-high 18 rebounds.

Jeff Green helped out with 19 points, Russell Westbrook add 16 and eight assists, and James Harden came off the bench to score 13 points.

Oklahoma City is averaging 110 points over their last five games at home, and with the way the Wizards are playing defensively, its hard to imagine Washington having much of a chance in this one. The Thunder are set to play the Heat at home on Sunday, and if they get caught looking ahead, this game could end up being a lot closer than some might think.

I don’t think we will see a let down from Oklahoma City. The Thunder have played eight of their last 11 games on the road, and with tough matchup coming up they will make sure they don’t let one slip away against the Wizards. I think there’s no doubt you lay the 10.5 at home.
