NBA Picks: Washington Wizards at New York Knicks

Written by -

The New York Knicks will look to get back on track when they host the Washington Wizards Monday night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 ET at Madison Square Garden.

New York has lost six straight overall, and are currently just one game above .500 after losing 101-98 on a last second shot at Oklahoma City this past Saturday. The good news for the Knicks is they face a Washington team that is 0-20 on the road this season.

Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s action, oddsmakers have the Knicks favored by 8.5-points over the Wizards with the total set at 210.5.

While the Wizards have yet to win a game on the road this season, they will head into New York with a ton of confidence, as they topped the Boston Celtics 85-83 on Saturday. Washington held Boston to just 27 points in the final two periods, after going into halftime down 10.

Rashard Lewis led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Javale McGee and John Wall had 16 points a piece. Washington won despite a poor shooting night from Nick Young, who scored just six points on 1-13 shooting.

The Wizards did a great job defensively, but have really struggled to bring that same kind of intensity on the road this season. Washington is giving up 108.4 points on the road this season, and figure to have their hands full against a Knicks team that is averaging 107.5 at home this season.

The Knicks can’t be happy with how they lost their last game against the Thunder, as they led by six with just three minutes to go. Amare Stoudemire scored just 18 points, but did have 12 rebounds. Stoudemire has scored 18 in each of the last two games, but should be able to bounce back against the Wizards tonight.

Stoudemire wasn’t the only Knicks player to struggle offensively. Raymond Felton had just 10 points on 5-16 shooting, and Wilson Chander scored just five points.

Danilo Gallinari led the way with 23 points, and Bill Walker gave the Knicks a big spark off the bench with 12 points in 12 minutes, thanks to 4-9 shooting from long distance.

While the Wizards are coming in off a big win, they have lost their last five games on the road by at least nine points, and I don’t think they have much of a chance of keeping this one close tonight. I think you lay the 8.5-points and take the Knicks.
